Y5/6 Family Learning!

Wow! Year 5/6 had such a lovely Family Learning event this afternoon! They were each able to choose an activity to participate in and each activity linked to our current expedition about looking after our minds and bodies.

The activities on offer were Zumba, football rounders, tag rugby, bench ball, outdoor cooking and making healthy meals!

It looked like all the children and adults were having lots of fun and it was great to see the adult participation. Thank you to all that attended and we hope you enjoyed it!

Y5/6 – Ready Steady Cook!

This afternoon in Y5/6 Family Learning the children took part in different activities linked to our expedition. I enjoyed hosting a Ready Steady Cook challenge and we had a fantastic time creating healthy and creative dishes. Well done everyone – I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

On Tuesday 24th May at 1:45pm it is our Y5 and Y6 Family Learning event. The children will be asked to select from a range of activities that link to our expedition ‘How can a healthy lifestyle impact our mind and body?’. We hope you can join us!

Crew Ambler – Long Division

This morning, I had the pleasure of teaching long division to our green standard group. Long division is a new skill in Y5 and I was very impressed at their knowledge and understanding of how to tackle long division problems. Well done everyone remember to put it into practice tomorrow!

Crew Ambler – Pig Heart Boy Debate

This morning, Crew Ambler took part in a debate whether Cameron should receive a pig heart transplant. Both sides came up with excellent reasons for and against and I was very proud of how mature everyone was throughout the debate. Well done Crew Ambler.

With a healthy heart the beat goes on.

This week Crew Ambler have hooked themselves into our Biology case study. We have learnt about the main parts of the heart and explained the function of the heart and how it helps our body to survive. Yesterday, we then dissected a lamb’s heart to deepen our knowledge and understanding of the heart. Well done to everyone who took part in the dissection 🙂

Musicians in the making!

Wow year 5 have been absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G in G-Block the past couple of weeks with our new music sessions! Not only do they look the part, but they are sounding brilliant and are developing and deepening their knowledge and understanding of music too! We have looked at different music notes, revised key words such as tempo and pitch, and the children can tell you the importance and purpose of a beat, as well as the style of different songs. They have enjoyed the vocal warm ups and have also loved learning our main song ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’ which we will continue to practice over the next few weeks ready for a final performance!

Keep it up my little rockstars!! I’m really impressed 😀
