PUMPKIN COMPETITION

Thanks to all who have entered the pumpkin competition. The deadline for entries is 12pm today. Unfortunately any entries received after this time will not be part of the judging. One winner per phase will be announced and all entries will receive a small treat on their return to school next Monday. Details of the competition are below:

🎃🍁🍂Happy half term 🎃🍁🍂

At Green Top we are sad that family learning can’t take place as it would usually in our classrooms and therefore we have pledged to have a family learning activity each half term for the whole school community to get involved with.

The first family learning challenge will be a ‘Carve or Decorate your own pumpkin’ competition. This competition will be judged on 31st October. There can be one entry per child and all entries must be entered by a photograph sent to [email protected] by the 12pm Tuesday 27th October. As photographs are entered they will be blogged on the website for all to see. All students who enter will receive a ‘treat’ on their return to school on 2nd November.

In addition one winner will be selected from each phase. Winners will be announced on October 31st.

Identifying features

Today we worked collaboratively to read a model non-chronological report and identify the writing features included. We used popcorn to share the features and examples we found within the text – I’m looking forward to reading your first non-chronological reports at the end of the week! ☺️

Conversation Starter

Do you ever ask your child what they’ve been learning this week only to get told ‘nothing’ or ‘I can’t remember’.

To try and help with this, each year group will share a specific question each week about that weeks learning to try and help get the conversation going.

Let us know if it’s useful and helps children talk about their learning.

Super Scientists 👩🏻‍🔬

Last week, we began Case Study two of our Expedition and all turned into scientists to study biology and the reproduction of plants. Shout out to the whole crew for being Curious Cleo’s on Friday 👩🏻‍🔬

WELL DONE LILLY-GRACE 💫

Yesterday, we began our second Case Study where we are studying biology and this week we are focussing on the reproduction of plants.

Lilly-Grace has produced some great home learning so far this year but I was particularly impressed with her diagram and description of the parts of a plant! Keep up the great work Lilly-Grace it’s awesome to see you so hooked in your learning!

Great home learning! 💫

I was so pleased to receive some brilliant home learning this weekend. Well done Jaiden, you have included lots of the writing features we have been focusing on in our English cycle!

Trade in South America 🌎

This afternoon, as part of our Geography case study we have explored the major industries, imports and exports of South American countries. The children enjoyed using the chrome books to research the different counties and we were surprised at the amount of trade we rely on from other countries! Lots of Curious Cleo’s today!

Reading around the room!

Today, we have enjoyed working collaboratively to complete a reading activity. The children enjoyed reading about Percy in the Bloomin’ Rainforest! Well done everyone some excellent retrieval skills today!

Last Weeks Learning Legends

Well done to all of our learning legends last week – you have impressed your friends, other adults in our class as well as me and I’m so proud of you all!
