What does 100 grams look like?

A big shout out to Grace, Jaiden, Sophia, Lilly, Kayla and Freya for completing the 100g challenge! We had a range of different items such as 100g of biscuits, flour, pasta, cornflakes, rice and even dog food!

Well done guys! 🙂

WELL DONE FREYA!! 💫

A big shoutout to Freya who received her certificate and prize for her entry in the Trinity Art competition. Freya completed her entry during lockdown, showing her awesome dedication to her learning!

Well done Freya – 100 Work Hard Howl points!!

WOW!  Well done to everyone who took the time to celebrate maths by photographing maths in our community!  We have some wonderful examples that I can’t wait to display around school.
Here are a few examples:
We will share more as the week goes on!
Wednesday’s maths challenge:
What does 100 grams look like?  Can you measure out 100g into a food bag and bring it to school?  Last year we looked at what 100 looks like and it will be great to compare 100 and 100g!
Don’t forget Friday’s maths challenge is our Maths Dress up day!  We are raising money for NSPCC and our target is £500!  We are asking for a donation of £1 (minimum).
Thank you once again for supporting our maths week!  We have started well!

Year 5/6 Phase – Food Donation!

As part of our expedition, the children have been looking at the impact that Covid-19 has had on the local community. We have discussed ways in which we as a phase could help others in the community who are struggling at this difficult time. Following on from the visit by Susan Durant, we have decided that we would like to make a phase donation to the local food bank.

If anyone has any spare food to donate it would be greatly appreciated. Any donations can be sent into school and delivered to your child’s class teacher. The more donations we receive the better. Thank you!

SHOUT OUT!! 💫💫

A huge shout out to those in Class 15 that graduated Brilliant Club this week. I am so proud of all your hard work and determination resulting in some brilliant achievements!

The smiles say it all! Well done superstars 💫

Thank you Susan Durant

This afternoon, Y5 had a chance to speak to our expert Susan Durant. Susan was a vital member of the Thorne & Moorends community team making and delivering food parcels throughout lock down. We would like to give Susan a big thank you for coming in to discuss her role at the food bank throughout both lock downs and the impact it had on our community. I am sure there will be plenty of shout outs for Susan and her team in our book! Thank you!

Brilliant Club Graduation

I would like to give a HUGE shout out to all the children in Y5 who took part in the Brilliant Club this year. Even though we had another lockdown these children continued to work hard and get smart and managed to write a 1,000 word essay all about Ice Cream! Their tutor was blown away with the quality of work he received and their results reflected their hard work. Well done to all you! Myself and Miss Myers are very proud!
