Reading Challenge

We are loving the variety of stories we have read this week. Today’s favourite was the runaway pea and this led onto some great learning about how peas grow. A special well done to Maya for completing last nights reading challenge and sharing her favourite books with her crew. Tonight’s challenge is to create a story stone that represents your favourite book.

Reading Challenge Week

We are LOVING extra story time this week! Some of the children have been sharing their favourite books with their friends and we’ve had so much fun reading as many books as we can! We started the morning with ‘My Big Shouting Day’ which we found very funny and then we read an exciting story about a fairy and a witch! After this we had lots of fun teaching our teachers all about Paw Patrol. It was a great start to our day! I wonder what we will read tomorrow?

Pyjamarama

Look at all these amazing outfits!
Class 3 looked awesome for our pyjamarama celebrations!

The Little Red Hen

In Literacy we read the story of the Little Red Hen and we made our own bread to taste! It was so yummy we decided to use the flour to bake some other treats too. We made chocolate concrete and chocolate cake. Thank you Mrs Cook for helping us!

NSPCC Maths Day

The children loved dressing up and talking about their outfits! We also love a good excuse to talk maths! Well done to the EYFS winner Lauren our ‘Tick Tock Talking Clock’. Not only did she have an amazing costume but she also spent the day drawing lots of clocks and talking about her work!

WOW!  Well done to everyone who took the time to celebrate maths by photographing maths in our community!  We have some wonderful examples that I can’t wait to display around school.
Here are a few examples:
We will share more as the week goes on!
Wednesday’s maths challenge:
What does 100 grams look like?  Can you measure out 100g into a food bag and bring it to school?  Last year we looked at what 100 looks like and it will be great to compare 100 and 100g!
Don’t forget Friday’s maths challenge is our Maths Dress up day!  We are raising money for NSPCC and our target is £500!  We are asking for a donation of £1 (minimum).
Thank you once again for supporting our maths week!  We have started well!
