Matilda, Ivy Ray and Poppy have been enjoying playing teachers with our phonics flash cards. What a great way to practise your letter recognition girls.

We had lots of leaves in our outdoor area today. The children enjoyed brushing them into a pile and then jumping into them. They also enjoyed throwing them into the air and watching them tumble back to the ground. We found some huge leaves.
Last week children really our engineering lab linked to our class text. The children had to try and balance a coin on a lemon. It was very tricky but lots of children showed perseverance and kept returning to the activity to have another try. We would like to give a Shout Out to Ivy Ray for her perseverance and her great thinking. She adjusted the coin carefully each time to try and get it to balance. She was very successful with the activity.
We found out that we could make it easier or harder by adjusting the amount of water in the bowl. We also found out that the type of coin we used could make a difference. We loved the activity so much that we set it up again today. This time we tried to balance a cube on the lemon.
Today we wore Odd Socks to kickstart our Anti Bullying Week. We spoke about the importance of being kind and helping people to feel happy. The children were very good at expressing themselves. We will continue discussions throughout the week in our crew circles.
Yesterday we had two very special visitors in F2. Miss Vaughan (now Mrs Jones) came to visit us with her baby Maddison. The children loved meeting them. Maddison was very popular and the children enjoyed singing nursery rhymes to her. Mrs Jones will be returning to school very soon and we are very lucky to have her working in Reception alongside our usual team.
Some of the EYFS children did some great guessing today of how many sweets there are in the tub!
The LC can’t wait to count them to see who is the winner!

We had lots of fun in Literacy Labs today. We have started reading our new core text ‘When Grandma gave me a Lemon Tree’ we had fun exploring lemons, making lemonade stands and making signs. We had lots of super role play happening in our play.
We can’t wait to continue our learning!
We have been thinking about Length and Height in maths today and Martha used a measuring worm to measure some different objects in the environment. We were using lots of great vocabulary-amazing!
