Red Nose Day 🔴

Friday 18th March 2020 is Red Nose Day in the UK. At Green Top we will be raising money for the event by selling red nose’s. Red nose’s will go on sale from tomorrow and school councillors will be bringing them to each class in the mornings, priced at £1.50. On the day, we will also be raising money by wearing something red and bringing in a £1 donation. To go along with this, the school council have also thought of some activities that we will be doing in the afternoon.

Fun in literacy

We had fun this week for literacy with our Hansel and Gretal book. The children started the lesson playing roll on the wall where they had to work as a team to take in in turns to look quickly at a picture and try and draw the exact same thing on their paper. They then had to follow Hansel and Gretals written instructions to get around their maps.

World Book day in Crew Jones.

The children looked amazing in Crew Jones today! We enjoyed sharing our love of reading and had fun with lots of different activities. We drew pictures of ourselves dressed up in our costumes, We did a traditional tale quiz and even followed instructions carefully do draw a picture of stage SpongeBob character.

Awesome Literacy Learning

Today we all worked super hard in our Literacy lesson. First we worked in collaborative groups to play a game called ‘roll on the wall’. We had to take it I’m turns to fine the hidden picture and then recreate it on our own paper.

Next we ordered the instructions and then read them. We marked the journey on the map.

3d Shapes

This week we have been exploring the properties of 3d shapes. We enjoyed exploring if towers were stable or unstable and giving reasons why. The children were excellent exploring the new mathematical vocabulary and using it in their explanations.

Shared Reading

We have been really enjoying our new shared reading lessons. We do shared reading every day as part of our timetable. We read with our teachers and with our friends.

Pancake Day!

We had a great time celebrating pancake day yesterday. We read a story called ‘Mr Wolfs Pancakes’ which had a funny ending. We then did a fun pancake dance and tasted pancakes. We enjoyed discussing our favourite pancake toppings and designing our own pancakes!
