KS1 Superheroes Unite – An invitation to our family learning event on Friday 8th September

On Friday 8th September, all KS1 children are invited to come to school dressed as a favourite superhero of their choice. We have been learning about heroes in the local community so they may wish to consider these, such as police officers and nurses, or they may opt for their favourite fictional superhero instead. We will be taking superhero pictures using green screen during the morning so please let your child’s class teacher know if you wish to opt-out of this.

Parents and carers are then invited to join us on the Key Stage 1 playground from 1.30pm where you will be able to enjoy a range of superhero themed activities (trainers a must, capes and masks optional!) before challenging yourself to defeat our ruthless obstacle course. To end the session, there will be juice and biscuits alongside stories and colouring inside your child’s classroom (after all, even superheroes need to rest!).

We do hope you will join us on Friday at 1.30pm and we can’t wait to see you all then.

Y1 PE day

PE will be on Tuesday this term. Please send in outdoor kit and trainers so we can make use of our playground while we still have good weather. We suggest that you send in PE kit on Monday morning and we will keep it in school until Friday. In this way we have a change of clothes for the children should it be needed.

Many thanks

Class 5 – Making an impact

Today we have been exploring our guiding question ‘How does what I do impact others?’ Today we did a litter pick around school and we sorted materials that could be recycled. We also played a fun memory game in our crew session and practised our phonics skills. The children have been awesome again today. I think it is going to be a fantastic year!

Welcome Back Class 5

Class 5 have had a lovely first day back at school today. We have been exploring the question ‘How does what I do impact others?’. We have enjoyed the story ‘The Messy Magpie’ and have also been exploring our new classroom. Well done Class 5 for a super first day in Year 1!

Key stage 1s picnic products *For sale on Friday*

I am so proud of the learning that has happened in key stage 1 this year. The children have risen to the challenge and gone above and beyond with the products that they have made this year and I will forever be grateful for the support from our parents to help celebrating these fantastic achievements.

At the picnic tomorrow, which starts at 12.30, we will have 2 of our amazing products on sale for parents to buy. We have the beautiful recipe books, which feature the children’s writing, photographs and work. There will also be our newest product…the reusable bag, with a self portrait of every child in key stage 1 on, which they sketched this term. I have bought one to use for myself next year too!

we hope you love them as much as we do!

thanks again for all of your support this year

Mrs Shaw’s new to year 2 beautiful work!

We have had such a super couple of days getting to know each other and learning all about our new astronaut: Valentina Tereshkova! The children have created a fantastic fact file about her life and I think they look amazing. They have been showing me their beautiful writing, their fantastic art skills, as well as their cutting and sticking skills. On top of that they blew me away this afternoon with the amount of information that they could recall about Valentina’s life. Super stars!

Have a great Summer guys and I will see you when you officially start in year 2…I can’t wait!
