It was such a pleasure to see all the children in class 7 dressed up as their favourite book character for World Book Day last week. We did lots of fun reading and book based activities throughout the day and I was able to share my love of books by reading some of my favourite rhymes and stories.
The Big Battery Hunt is a nationwide battery recycling programme for schools funded by Duracell. Its aim is to increase the number of batteries currently being recycled in the UK. Pupils are challenged to collect as many batteries as they can, encouraging their communities to do the same.
All you need to do is take any unwanted batteries into school and give them to your school councillor. The school council will collect the batteries, keep count of them and recycle them for you. Let’s see how many we can collect this year!
What an absolutely fantastic celebration we had in our community crew this morning. Our out of this world superstars were amazing and everyone supported their achievements! We had shoutouts for fantastic stewardship, superstar readers gaining their bronze and silver certificates, class HOWL point winners and so many TT rockstars and numbots winners! we ended as always with our crew song! So proud of you all
In our shared reading sessions we have been reading a non-fiction book called Pets. To help with the children’s comprehension skills we each gave a presentation with 5 top tips on how to care for a pet. I learned that you should not let shadows fall across a fish’s tank! Handy to know! Thank you class 7.
This morning in crew we talked about Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday and Lent and found out why we eat pancakes today. Why not ask your child to explain? We finished the day with a fabulous pancake tasting session. Apologies for the chocolate spread, jam and honey stains on your little ones this evening!
To celebrate Comic Relief this year, we are inviting you to come to school dressed in red with a suggested donation of £1.
This years merchandise includes many different Mr Men and Little Miss characters.
As part of Red Nose Day we are launching our very own Design a T-shirt Competition!
If you want to take part, all you need to do is design your very own Red Nose Day t-shirt and bring it with you on Friday 17th March.
Get creative and design it in any way you want! You might want to draw a picture, paint it or even create a t-shirt you can wear on the day.
Each crew will vote for their winning design to be entered into a whole school competition. Have you got what it takes to be our winning design? Good Luck! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
What a fantastic hook back into our learning after the half term holidays we enjoyed this afternoon. Mr Lamb, who had already given us the benefit of his expert knowledge about castles earlier in the year, came into school to explain what being an opera singer entails. He talked us through the process of learning and practising a song, and showed us the costumes and make-up he wears when performing. We joined in with some vocal exercises before Mr. Lamb performed part of ‘Toreador’ from the opera, Carmen. The children were transfixed! They then were allowed to try on some of the hats and masks that Mr Lamb wears. What an amazing experience. Thank you so much Mr Lamb.
