Just a reminder to Y5/6 parents that our celebration of learning event will be going ahead on Monday from 1:30. Our celebration will take place on the KS2 playground. The children’s picture frames will be available for donation and all proceeds will be going to The World Wildlife Fund.
Y6 visited the Lifewise Centre today to participate in the Crucial Crew programme. The Lifewise Centre provides the children with essential knowledge and skills to be able to keep safe in the local community.
Some of the different scenarios included road safety, transport safety, fire safety and a mock trial in a Magistrates’ Court! All of the scenarios are taught by volunteering experts from South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership.
The children participated in all of the scenarios showing real maturity and thoughtfulness – well done guys 🙂
We had a lovely afternoon welcoming parents back in to school for family learning after such a long time!
We created posters in the style of Keith Haring to promote looking after out planet which links nicely to our expedition ‘How can we help the world we live in?’
There were some really positive finished posters!
We then had a very competitive game of Kahoot all about rainforests – I was really impressed with some of the answers! A huge well done to Jaiden and his dad for winning! Closely followed by Lexi, Lilly and her mum! Well done guys!
Thank you to all of the adults that came to join in with our learning! We hope you had fun!
Crew Knowles enjoyed a crews session looking at Red Nose Day and why we raise money. We then entered the School Council’s competition by designing our own red noses! There were lots of great entries – fingers crossed for a prize!
Year 6 have really been enjoying making their wooden photo frames to showcase their artwork! I am so impressed with the skills and team work that has been shown. Everyone has been so careful and responsible around the tools and were are in the process of creating some beautiful frames!
We still have lots more to make so watch out for more photographs!
Crew Knowles enjoyed an arithmetic afternoon practising different skills including Roman Numerals, converting fractions, times tables and converting measures. Wow, what a variety!
Crew Knowles have grappled with the new skill of ratio this morning. They enjoyed looking at ratios and realising that it involved a lot of times tables knowledge!
A reminder that red noses will continue to be on sale this week up until the day itself. They are priced at £1.50 per red nose and we only have a limited number remaining so make sure that you get yours bought early! School councillors will be bringing them round during morning crew.
Friday 18th March 2020 is Red Nose Day in the UK. At Green Top we will be raising money for the event by selling red nose’s. Red nose’s will go on sale from tomorrow and school councillors will be bringing them to each class in the mornings, priced at £1.50. On the day, we will also be raising money by wearing something red and bringing in a £1 donation. To go along with this, the school council have also thought of some activities that we will be doing in the afternoon.
