Y5/6 Community Crew Meeting

Another week, another lovely opportunity to get our Y5 and Y6 crews together to celebrate all things Green Top!

Lots of shout outs for yesterday’s trip to Trinity by the athletics team – well done all for coming 2nd overall. And, more shout outs across the phase for some fantastic collaboration going into preparing our lectures on space for next week – we can’t wait to see you there.

A huge well done to all of our HOWL point winners as well as our OOTW champions too, and thank you to those parents who were able to join us as part of their celebration.

Year 3/4 HoWL Point Winners

Well done guys for being the winner of your crews for Being Kind, Working Hard and Getting Smart. This was our last crew assembly before Christmas and it’s been lovely to hear such lovely things from your crew members.

A shout out to Crew Faulding for being our whole crew HoWL point winners for a second week in a row! You should all be extremely proud of how hard you are working and for achieving lots of HoWL points! You stars!

Year 3/4 Christmas production and costumes

Year 3 and 4’s Christmas production will take place on Tuesday 13th December with a 9.30am start. An email will be sent with further details soon.

Christmas parts with costume ideas have been allocated to those children who wanted a part and your child should have fetched a letter home. We do also have some costumes in school so please speak to class teachers if you would like to use this option.

If your child has not received one, it is because they have opted to be in the choir and can just wear normal clothes but with a Christmas element such as a Christmas jumper.

Please send your costumes in to school once you have them so we can support where needed.

If you have any further questions, please speak to class teachers.

As always, thank you for your support!

Class 13 – Sketching! ✏️

Today we were able to start Case Study 3, which focuses on art. We have been looking closely at sketching and how we can create different textures to add shading to our drawings. We looked at several different techniques including stippling, hatching and cross-hatching. Ask your children if they can demonstrate and explain what each different technique is!

Class 13 – Touchdown Writing 📝

Over the past week, we have been completing our touchdown writing. We carried out some research about two people whose lives were both affected in different ways by the Second World War. We then produced a biography that will form part of our product; a book that answers this expedition’s guiding question, ‘How does war change lives?’

Class 13 – Remembrance Day 🇬🇧

On Friday, the children were given time to make some Remembrance Day crafts whilst we thought of all those soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. This linked well to our current expedition question, ”How does war change lives?” and it really made the children think about the catastrophic effect that war can have on all of those involved.

Class 13 – Eden Camp 🪖

This week, the children have been able to go on a fantastic trip to Eden Camp. They were able to experience The Blitz, get inside an Anderson Shelter and even see some of the weapons, uniforms and vehicles used during the Second World War! Overall, we had a brilliant day and were able to learn so much new information – it was great that the children were able to experience so many new things!
