Class 9 | Home Learning

Well done to Millie who, this week, has been completing some acts of kindness at home. She made her best friend Elea a get well soon card and coloured her a Stitch picture to cheer her up. She has also been making some thank you cards to hand out to those people who have been kind to her. Well done Millie for such a lovely gesture!

Extended Study – What’s your favourite book?

Next week is Green Libraries week. Have you ever visited your local library?

To celebrate, Crew Council is setting everyone a task to recommend their favourite books to their peers.

You could present this as a poster, a book review, a leaflet or a picture of the front cover of your favourite book.

Next week, your Crew Councillor will be presenting theirs – this might help you with some ideas!

Please hand in your finished piece to your Crew leaders. These will look amazing in your class reading area! You could even bring in your favourite book to share with your friends!

As an extra challenge – Could you research what Green Libraries week is about? What does it mean to be Green and Sustainable?

I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!

Class 9 | Home Learning

For homework this week, Arnie wrote facts about Churchill and designed a “Dig for Victory” poster. Arnie also watched a film about children in the war for a better understanding of what it was like. Well done Arnie – super home learning!

Young Voices – UPDATE!

If your child would like to take part in Young Voices but hasn’t returned their slip to school yet, please can it be returned as soon as possible. This is so we can confirm numbers for the coach and book the children’s seats in the arena. We currently have 32 children taking part and this will be capped at 40.

Please return signed slips to myself or crew leaders as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Please note that payment on Parent Pay is open but the deadline for payment remains the same – Friday 18th October!

Thank you!

Class 7 – Bayeux Tapestry!

Today, Class 7 have been learning about William the Conqueror. He invaded Britain in 1066 and fought in the Battle of Hastings. We learned about the battle through the Bayeux Tapestry. So, what better way to understand it more than to create our own version?

Crew Spetch – Crew reading!

At the end of the day today, we explored more about space and read a story about the dog Laika who was the first animal sent to space. We investigated more about the animals that had survived the trip and was amazed with the large variety that have been sent into the orbit!

A shout out to Libby for having the courage to read the story to our crew this afternoon!

Class 8 history lessons

The children have been learning about William the Conqueror this week and the battle of Hastings. They have created their own version of the Bayeux tapestry to retell the story. Today they moved on to the feudal system from the Middle Ages and we did a bit of drama to support their understanding of who was the most important person and the consequences for being at the bottom of the feudal system. There was some great learning happening this week. Well done class 8!
