UNDER THE SEA 🐬- virtual marine aquarium

For all those that love mermaids, sea life and marine biology there is a fab weekly virtual lesson every Friday to take part in. There will be lots of interesting facts and experiments linking to sea animals, life and their habitats.

Here’s a photo of Crew Myers’ future marine biologist Freya enjoying the first lesson today.

Using Jamboard in English💫

This week we have been getting used to using Jamboard as part of English. We enjoyed magpying ideas from each other and reading each other’s examples. The children from school joined too so they could see the great work that everyone at home was completing. Well done to everyone for being Stickability Stans yesterday, the fishbone lesson was difficult but you all did your very best and I was super impressed!

Name that dragon!

As you know we were visited at the beginning of the week by a dragon who left more than just footprints and scorch marks in the Green Top playground!

As we continue to care for the precious dragon egg we realised that we don’t have a name for him or her when the egg finally hatches.

That is where you come in Y2 crews! We have decided to hold a competition to find a name for our dragon baby. Be ready to share your ideas and reasons for your choice on hangout tomorrow morning at 9am for the chance to name our newest classmate!

PS…why not check out our Expedition website to look back on previous learning, admire our beautiful work and for links to further learning. Link below.

Key stage 1 virtual visitor

Thank you so much to everyone who logged into our hangout this afternoon to hear our archaeologist expert talk about castles and particularly the dig that happened at peel Hill.

I feel really proud of all the children who took part and I really hope that you learnt something new and enjoyed being a part of it.

A special than you to Miss Hilton for organising it and for Dr Jon Kenny for delivering it, Green Top School really appreciate it!

Fantastic maths work today

This week we started our maths unit all about money. They have been looking at coins, and problem solving by Tring to use a variety of coins to make certain amounts.

Money is quite a hard unit to master so we have been spending a lot of time recognising the coins and looking at them and discussing how they look and feel.

Fantastic work today year 2

Olivia’s super home learning!

We are so impressed with Olivia in Year 6! She has created a fantastic set of slides all about the Stone Age which we are currently looking at in our expedition lessons! We are so proud of her enthusiasm to continue her research and her learning beyond our lessons!

Well done Olivia!

Beautiful work in year 4!

Take a look at these examples of high quality expedition work. The children have skilfully used coloured inks before adding a mono print volcano over the top. Utterly outstanding work! Keep an eye out over the next few days for more examples on our expedition site (which can be found here: https://sites.google.com/greentopschool.org/expedition-2-2021/hook-week )

Look what we found in the quad!

Following the very exciting visitor we had this morning that Luke captured on camera, we discovered she had left us more evidence of her visit.

This led to some very exciting discussion and sentence work as to exactly where she had come from and why she had decided to visit Green Top…one excellent suggestion was that she had noticed how many castles there were in the KS1 corridor classrooms and she was looking for a new place to live!

I wonder if she will be back after her egg has hatched.

PLEASE WATCH!!!

Our fantastic caretaker Luke managed to catch this on video very early this morning!

The children have also found a huge dragons egg inside a nest in the quad area.

At playtime they went on a hunt and have found footprints, scorch marks and are still looking for more clues that a dragon has been!

Can you believe it!!!!!
