All parents should now have received an academic snapshot of their child’s academic progress and achievement at the end of Autumn term. These have been emailed from the email address [email protected] and where parents have or wish to request a child led conference phase leaders are organising them.
As outlined this is a snapshot of your child’s achievements last term, we are keen to work with you to support your child to achieve their minimum expectation and address any gaps which have appeared in line with the first lockdown. If you haven’t received your child’s academic snapshot please give the office a call and speak to Mrs Richmond who will be able to support you to access this.
Thanks

I was genuinely amazed (after we got over the excitement of having some science equipment out) and very proud of the children in class 11 today.Β I didn’t at all believe we could sit for so long together and investigate ROCKS but we did and the children loved it and had such a buzz. There was great vocabulary, prediction, asking lots of scientific questions and sharing lots of answers and thoughts together as well as recoding and comparing.Β Who knew rocks could be this interesting, but they are!! Well done my little rock stars it was great and I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
(PS we had more rocks than this to look at but we just didn’t put them all in the water)
In order to build the vocabulary that year 2 are exposed to, we learnt a great example of a dragon description by heart, using talk 4 writing style.
This allowed us to use ambitious vocabulary in context and then transfer some of the phrases to our own touchdown writing, which I’ve already blogged about how fantastic it is.
I just had to share their hard work and what effort went in to writing such brilliant work!
Well done

Class 9 have enjoyed excavating the school quad today and uncovering some possible medieval artefacts!!!
They used spoons, tweezers and brushes to find what they believe to be parts of old plates and cups and they could have been buried for hundreds of years.
They were very excited to become archeologists today and take on a new role and put into practice the skills that they had learnt about.
What fantastic learning today KS1, well done!

What an exciting day! We have been studying all things medieval in our Castle Walls expedition in KS1 and this afternoon we have learned first hand about the job done by archaeologists to discover artefacts from history that tell us about life in the past.
We worked out that the artefacts we found were probably a plate ‘because it has a curved edge and it is flat’ and a cup or teapot ‘because there is a handle’.
Did you know that archaeologists study artefacts and palaeontologists study bones?
Move over Indiana Jones!
As part of our expedition work the children in EYFS enjoyed a sound therapy session with Karen White from Phoenix Therapy, Thorne. The children really enjoyed how to control their breathing and how they can control their own emotions. They also enjoyed sending all the worries into the thunder tin and listening to the gong and how loud it could be. We listened carefully to where we could feel the sounds in our bodies. Finally we relaxed and listened to the wonderful sounds Karen could make with all her equipment. We will definitely be continuing to use the techniques Karen showed us. We have already noticed a difference with how the children are able to use the breathing to calm their minds.
After the recent sad news of the death of Captain Sir Tom Moore, Year 5 decided to share a lovely story of his extraordinary life.
We discussed all the inspirational things that he had achieved in his life and it was wonderful to hear all the children share how he had inspired them to want to achieve great things in their lives too.
In celebration of his life and to share our thoughts, we created Thank you cards, posters and story boards of his life.
What a beautiful afternoon and a little reminder to everyone:
βThe sun will shine on you again and the clouds will go away – Tomorrow will be a good day Β 💚β
The children at school this week didn’t miss out on all of the fun yesterday and we managed to enjoy the snow a bit too! 😀 🌨⛄
Hope everyone at home had a break from school work and managed to get out in the fresh snow ❄
