Amazing day!

I was so proud of the behaviour and engagement of class 6 yesterday on their first ever official off site trip. We had a marvellous time exploring the wonderful sea creatures at The Deep in Hull and showed just how much we have learned during our workshop. Please see below for a pictorial record of our day.

World Book Day

On Thursday 3rd March, we will be celebrating World Book Day by inviting children and staff to come to school dressed as a book character.

There will be lots of online events and activities taking place throughout that week so keep checking back on the blog to see what we have planned.

Year 3/4 Crew Assembly

A huge well done to this weeks HoWL point winners! You are all setting a great example to your crews by working hard, getting smart and being kind. Keep it up!

Also, a shout out to Crew Faulding, Crew Myers and Crew Barnett on getting 100% attendance last week. Let’s hope that we keep this momentum after half term too!

It’s always great to get you all together and to celebrate lots of wonderful learning!

We are scientists

Keep working hard guys!

Celebrating home learning

A massive shout out to Oliver for his awesome home learning. I was blown away with his hard work at home to produce the layers of the rainforest. This morning he showed great confidence in explaining it to our crew.

Thanks for sharing Oliver. You definitely deserve 50 Work Hard HOWL points!

Class 8’s trip to the deep

What a fantastic day we have had. It was so nice to get out of school and enjoy a full day of fun at The Deep.

The children made me proud with their behaviour and manners and were interested in all of the displays, interactive resources and sea life that were on offer today.

They have learnt so much today and proudly shared their learning from our current expedition with the deep expert.

What a fantastic day 💚

Children’s Mental Health Week

Today we kicked off celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week in Nursery. We started our morning with a crew session where we watched the story ‘Lucy’s Blue Day’ and then discussed the things that we can do when we are feeling sad, anxious, cross or scared. The nursery children then had the challenge of creating drawings to represent how they were feeling this morning. We were so impressed their work!

At lunchtime we looked after our mental health by having some ‘chill out’ time following a cosmic yoga video. The children loved creating all the different poses!

Then to make sure we all went home feeling happy we finished our end of the day crew session by having a dance to S Club 7’s Reach for the Stars! The children had some very inventive dance moves and lovely smiley faces!

What a good start to our Mental Health Awareness Week! There’ll be lots more activities over the coming days where the children will learn more about how they can take care of themselves and share their feelings with others.

Y1 phonics sounds and spelling WB 7.2.22

This weeks phonics focus sounds will be…
o-e as in home, u-e as in cube, i as in fine and i as in find, o as in cot and o as in cold

Our weekly spellings are…
were, house, home, hole, tube, cube, fin, find, cot, cold

Any help you could give your child with recognising the sounds and practising the spellings would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for your continued support and to all those who practised last week’s spellings. It really does make a massive difference for the children to see that the work they do in school is considered just as important at home.
