Year 3 and 4 Phase Meeting

A lovely end to a lovely, but busy term this morning in our crew phase meeting’s.

We celebrated with lots of wonderful shout outs, our HoWL postcard winners and by applauding our attendance, accelerated reader and overall HoWL points.

Well done to everyone in both Year 3 and 4 for working so hard this term- we are very proud of the beautiful work that you have produced!

Enjoy your Easter break and we can’t wait to circle back up again as a phase in two weeks!

An Easter Experience!

This morning the children in Nursery took part in a three part interactive workshop exploring the Easter story. The children met Pete the Palm Tree, visited the garden tomb and heard all about the events of Holy Week. We were so proud of how beautifully the children listened to the stories and responded to questions with thoughtful answers. They also loved using stickers to create their own tomb scene and were blessed with a book and chocolate egg to take home!

Thank you so much to Linda and Linda from Doncaster School’s Work Trust for delivering such a lovely session for us today. We are looking forward to having you back into school again soon!

Diversity Week – We All Have Different Stripes!

This week is Diversity Week and so today in Nursery we started our learning by sharing the book All My Stripes. The children listened to the story of Zane the zebra who recognised the way he experienced the world was different to others due to having Autism. By the end of the story Zane realised with the help of his Mum that he was special, unique and had gifts and talents that may be similar or different to others.

We then spent time talking as a crew about all the characteristics we liked about ourselves, the things we were good at and how these may be the same or different to our friends in nursery. We then recorded all the children’s suggestions on their own zebra stripes for us to look at and discuss together. There were some wonderfully thoughtful answers and the children were so supportive of each other sometimes offering suggestions to one another! Well done Nursery Crew! What a great start to Diversity Week!

Y5/6 Celebration of Learning

A huge well done to Y5/6 who shared their expedition learning this afternoon in the sunshine! They presented their gorgeous art work in their photo frames which were handmade by themselves!

I was also so proud of their passionate speeches about endangered animals and it was lovely to see how proud all of the children were when they saw their product hung up around the school grounds!

Easter Events at Green Top

We are all very excited for our Easter events this week! The ‘Friends’ of Green Top are busy preparing for our Easter Fayre on Friday – 1:30pm-3:30pm.

We need your help! Do you have any unwanted gifts that we can use on our tombola? Do you have any teddy bears hanging around that need a new home on our teddy tombola?

Please hand donations to crew leaders by Thursday – we really appreciate your support!

Celebrating our differences

Class 6 kicked off diversity week by discussing autism. We watched a film about a zebra called Zane who had different stripes to all his friends. We talked about how we are all different and celebrated all the different things we are good at. We drew these things on jigsaw puzzle pieces and we will fit them together to make a diversity puzzle by the end of the week. Watch this space!

Dancing with a future star?

How gorgeous does Imogen look at her Irish dancing competition this weekend? She did amazingly well gaining 3rd place from a total of 22 dancers!

She was staggeringly unimpressed with my attempts to emulate her skills though…I can’t think why…

Awesome job angel x

Monday’s postcard winners

Huge congratulations to Ellis and Reeva for being today’s learning legends. Ellis grappled so hard with his first draft of a description of our sculptures and Reeva’s thirst for learning is a joy to behold.

Keep up the awesome learning attitudes kids. So proud of you.

Y5/6 Celebration of learning

Well done to all of Y5/6 today who celebrated their learning from our current expedition ‘How can we help our world survive?’ The children spoke with great enthusiasm and could recall prior learning throughout our 3 case studies. In addition to this, their art work was amazing and we would all like to give a shout out to Mrs Green for her awesome art lessons in G Block! Well done Y5/6 everyone is very proud of you 🙂
