We were so lucky to spend some time at the park today enjoying the new playground and a train ride. The children, as always were wonderful and a credit to the school, it was so lovely to see them enjoy and play safely in their local community. They definitely had a great time.
After learning that light can’t bend around objects, we discussed that this creates shadows. The children in their second experiment were testing how the distance of a light source from the object effected the size of it’s shadow. Here they are all set up again to test out their theories in groups. I was very impressed with their efforts here they did a great job!
In our science week we have been learning about light. We have carried out some experiments that showed us that light can only travel in straight lines, it cannot bend around objects. Here they are in action testing out their theories.
Hunter has blown me away with his fantastic home learning. Taking inspiration from our two page spread he spent the weekend doing his own and teaching himself about other organs in the body too! Great work and effort all round.
Kalab wanted to share his achievements in his marshal arts today, he has earned himself a certificate and his yellow belt! He was so confident talking to the children about his achievements, you can tell he’s proud of himself! Well done.
We are delighted to invite parents and families to our Presentation of Learning for our expedition, The Power of Life: What Makes Us Human? This special event will take place in the school hall on Wednesday, 26th March at 2:00 PM.
Our pupils have been working incredibly hard, exploring the fascinating aspects of what makes us who we are. From the science of the human body to the emotions and connections that shape us, they are excited to showcase their learning with you.
Please fill out the form below to confirm your attendance at the event.
The children have worked so hard this term on their expedition with the title and guiding question, ‘Fight for your rights: How can one moment influence our future?’ We are so proud of their amazing artwork and the way it has come together to be made into a ring bound notebook linked to the inspirational figures we have studied in history. The notebook can be purchased from Monday and will first be on sale at the Year 5 and 6 presentation of learning during the afternoon using cash. The notebook will also be added to parentpay next week where you can purchase using bank card. The cost of the notebook will be £3:50.
We look forward to seeing you at our Presentation of Learning coffee afternoon on Monday at 2pm. If you haven’t yet completed the google form please click here to share whether you will be attending.
We have had the best morning at Thorne park! We were the first ever children to play on Thorne Park and it really was a special moment when they opened the gates for the first time. We have hidden kindness stones for people to find and we even had a go on the train! What a wonderful morning we have had x
