Y6 Reading

Today we introduced our new text – My Name is River.

The children made predictions from the front cover about what they thought our new text would be about…

We then kicked back and had some refreshments while we read the first chapter!

What a lovely relaxing reading session 🙂

After some fantastic reading we had a silent discussion to build on our predictions – What do we know about the text now?

Class 5 crafts

Class 5 have had a brilliant start to the new term and have been transforming the classroom into an underwater adventure. Everyone has worked so hard and has taken their time to create beautiful art out of different materials to make something to be proud of! You can see the hard work, determination and concentration from everyone. Well done class 5!

Check out our fantastic anchor charts!

This week, children have been busy immersing themselves in our new expedition- focused on rainforests and climate emergency. The children were tasked with creating anchor charts to build their back ground knowledge in preparation for expedition lessons to begin next week. The children used a range of sources from poetry to ‘fact splats’ to deepen their understanding of the different rainforest layers. Keep your eyes peeled for our next blog post- we will reveal this term’s learning environment!!

Outdoor Play in the sun

Well done to Thea for being our HOWL point winner today and well done to Archie for being our postcard winner today!

Exciting immersion in class 8

It was so great to see everyone back in class today…it feels like it’s been a long 2 weeks! We began the huge task of making our classroom look like an under the sea environment. It is already looking great. The children today designed their own fish and made fish scales for their picture…can’t wait to see them finished!

Welcome back Class 7

It’s been a great first day back for Class 7 and the children are very excited to be starting our new expedition, How will what I do today impact on the world around me? They are looking forward to learning more about how pollution is impacting on our world’s seas and oceans, but more importantly … what we can do to help this.

All of the children have been fantastic and settled back into school so well that they have all been awarded today’s learning legend – well done boys and girls!

Year 5/6 visit to Tropical World

Unfortunately the date for the year 5 and 6 visits to Tropical World have been changed due to staffing and ratios.  The visits will now take place later in this half term, a new date will be communicated this week. Thanks
