We think Nursery Crew look fabulous in their party clothes ready to celebrate the end of our first expedition!
We would like to invite parents and carers to join KS1 in a celebration of our Autumn term expedition … What will I do to be a Superhero in my Community?
On Thursday 2nd December, we will be serving tea and coffee in the hall from 8.45am before sharing our learning with you. We will then invite you to join us on a march to promote litter picking in the local area, an important message that the children in KS1 feel particularly passionate about sharing with everyone.
We hope you will be able to join us on the morning of Thursday 2nd December.
Kind regards,
everyone in the KS1 team 🙂
We had lots of fun in Literacy Labs today. We have started reading our new core text ‘When Grandma gave me a Lemon Tree’ we had fun exploring lemons, making lemonade stands and making signs. We had lots of super role play happening in our play.
We can’t wait to continue our learning!
Crew Jackson are blowing me away at the moment with their awesome reading skills. Not only are they confidently developing their fluency when reading non-fiction, they are showing they can use their inference skills to match dates and facts that show the evolution of trains over time.
Keep up the hard work guys!
Mrs Jackson
This week the children were excited to find lots of Autumn leaves in our outdoor areas.
In our Phonics labs we often practise recognising and writing the letters we have been learning. We are getting better and better every day and we love this activity. We play some gentle music for 5 minutes and the children walk around the room, find a letter and practise writing it three times. We continue until the music stops.
After our phonics learning some of the children chose to use whiteboards and pens to practise their skills.
Well done everyone for working super hard in Phonics labs.
Last week we were very lucky to have had Fireman James from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue visit the children to talk about fire safety and how to keep safe on Bonfire Night.
The children thoroughly enjoyed his visit and loved seeing the uniform he wears.
Thank you for coming to see us Fireman James!
It was lovely to be able to welcome Class 10’s family back into the classroom this week. The children enjoyed sharing everything they’ve learnt about Romans with their parents. They were also involved in some hands on activities.
On Friday morning, in Crew Jackson, we took part in the the National Literacy Trust take 10 to read challenge. The children really enjoyed listening live to Tom Percival read an extract from his new book then teach them how to show different emotions in their drawings. We went on to escape for 10 minutes with a good book. There is nothing better for your well-being than reading a good book!
Aidan was making the most of the glorious weather today and decided to take 10 minutes out to enjoy a book. What a place to read it too 🙂
Hope everyone manages to take 10 minutes out for themselves today too…nothing better than getting engrossed into a good book.
Enjoy your weekend
