Class 10 Family Learning! 🏛️

Firstly, I would like to say a massive thank you to adults for coming out in this heat and getting stuck right into the Roman sword making. I am sure the children really appreciate it as well.

We had a lot of fun making the weaponry and we will put it to good use in our battle tomorrow!

Class 10s day!

To say that this was Class 10s first attempt at reading block, they smashed it out of the park. We had some super discussions about our class text, whilst also trying to make predictions about the book based on illustrations, the title and also the blurb. We also discussed what fiction and non-fiction was.

We also learned about how the Romans used mosaics as part of their artwork, so we thought… why don’t we do the same? Although there were many bits and our hands were full of glue, we still enjoyed creating our very own mosaics!

Finally, we ended the day with our own Roman sports day. We had chariot racing, Roman hurdles, marching practise and we even had a shot put event. Despite the heat (it really did feel like and Italian summer) we loved it!

Hook Week – Day 1! 🏛️

What a great start to Hook Week by Class 10. We wondered who the Romans were, where they came from and what they did for us? So what better way to learn about the Romans than research about them. We did this collaboratively and were able to create some really factual anchor charts that we will be able to use!

I cannot fault Class 10s start to the week – it really was super!

Class 10 – Day 4!

Well, we’ve ended the week really well in Class 10 and I am really pleased with how well we are starting to adapt to our new classroom norms! I know that we will continue to get better and better as the weeks and year progresses. We started the day off by voting for our new Crew Councillor, Learning Councillor and also our Digital Leader. We had so many people want to have a role it was great to see!

Then, we continued to build our Crew further. We had to get across the classroom without “slipping” off of the rocks and onto the carpet. We had great fun and lots of encouragement was on show again!

After break, we went on a scavenger hunt looking for a variety of things in the playground, like feathers, flying insects and a varying flowers around the school and playground. We loved working together to find these items!

Finally, we concluded the day by painting our rocks as an end to our final product about what Crew meant to us. We have some really lovely designs!

I really hope Class 10 have enjoyed this week as much as I have! Have a lovely weekend and come back ready for hook week! 😆

Class 10 – Day 3!

What a busy day it was again!

We learned what synonyms are and if that wasn’t enough, we also learned how to use a thesaurus. I was blown away by how quickly Class 10 were able to get to grips with a tricky skill. Class 10 also worked on more Crew building skills of moving cups without using hands! This was confusing at first, but its fair to say we smashed it! We then continued our rock product as the day carried on!

Class 10 – Day 2!

What a great second day that Class 10 have had!

Yesterday, we started the day off by writing a little fact file about us. We learned new facts about each other such as birthdays, siblings and favourite movies! It was so nice to see everyone thinking of facts about themselves and, as their new teacher, was a great way to learn more about them!

Then, we completed some more Crew building activities. We had to pass a hula hoop around without breaking the chain (stopping holding hands) and was able to do this in small groups as well as the entire 27 of us! What impressed us most was our kind words of encouragement and it was genuinely heartwarming. Miss Smith said how impressed she was!

For the rest of the day, we worked on a variety of designs for our rock product. We put into practise the ideas that we learned, like making them bright and standing out.
