Lots to celebrate in class 6

Our phase assembly winners today in class 6 were…

From Crew Rodgers – Work Hard – Eva, Be Kind – Rhys, Get Smart, Adam and HoWL points – Adam. A special mention to Adam who, despite being at home with the dreaded chicken pox, has posted photographs of his homework on classroom every day to earn enough HoWL points to win this week’s certificate and Get Smart award.

From Crew O’Neill – Work Hard – Florence and Get Smart – Radu.

Nathaniel was our reading champion and Deacon, Junior and Tyler gained their Bronze reading certificates.

A huge shout out to Imogen also who proudly showed off her Irish Dancing medals from a comp she entered last weekend.

Amazing job everyone.

Class 5 champions!

WOW to some awesome children in class 5 today!

Macky has been racking up those HOWL points over the past week and has ended up with the most! He’s definitely displayed all of our HOWLs and has been taking beautiful pride in all of his learning.

Hunter and Aurora have been chosen as Crew O’Neill and Crew Good’s BE KIND champion this week. These two always keep our classroom tidy and are super kind crew members to each other. Always using their manners, being respectful too!

Elizabeth is our WORK HARD champion this week. Her attitude to learning has been excellent, she’s really making some great choices and producing some amazing writing. She is responding so well to critique and feedback and really starting to engage in her learning.

Maya has been chosen as our GET SMART champion this week as she has been on fire!!! She’s been so active every day and working hard to take pride in her work.

Keep up the hard work class 5, you’re all superstars!!!!

Legends!

It was a pleasure to give these postcards today to 2 of our children who have showed how following our HoWLs brings success. Radu scored 10 out of 10 in our monthly spelling check, and Florence has worked so hard in her measuring maths lesson.

I am so proud of you guys.

My little scientist

Look at the proud face on Thea as she won our learning legend postcard today for demonstrating just how much she has learned about animal groups, food chains and habitats. She was able to share her new-found knowledge with our crew and spoke knowledgeably about the effect humans have on the environment and how this impacts on the lives of the animals she has studied. So proud of you angel! X

Phonics sounds and spellings WB. 31.1.22

This weeks phonics focus sounds will be…

Au as in haunt, a-e as in cake, e-e as in eve, i-e as in like

Our weekly spellings are…

Your, today, jaunt, haul, mate, late, even, these, line, file.

Any help you could give your child with recognising the sounds and practising the spellings would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for your continued support and to all those who practised last week’s spellings. It really does make a massive difference for the children to see that the work they do in school is considered just as important at home.

Miss Rodgers and Miss Good x

Postcard winners

A huge well done to our postcard winners this week – Eva, Ellis, Thea, Kalab and Haran. We have been investigating measuring length and height in maths, continuing our habitat and food chain studies in science and editing and re-drafting a non-chronological report on polar bears in English. I have been very impressed by the children’s spelling and phonics scores also this week. Many thanks to all those who practised with the children.

Enjoy your long weekend everyone x

Learning legend post card winners

Today we have written the first draft of our non-chronological report on polar bears. Eva and Ellis won the postcards for their amazing effort in this work. Ellis tried very hard to remember his phonics learning for spellings and Eva used lots of green standard conjunctions. I can’t wait to see your final drafts. Great job.

All about polar bears

Some fantastic sharing of knowledge today in class 6 when the children made information posters about polar bears as part of their science case study. This knowledge will be used to great effect in our English work when we write a non-chronological report to consolidate our learning. Take a look at the posters below drawn by Rhys, Deacon and Harrison.

Amazing job guys.
