Crew Knowles: We are presenters!

After we completed our fantastic research about some of history’s deadliest pandemics, we then presented our findings to the rest of our crew.

Each group were able to present their research however they wanted. As a result, we had slides, written presentations, a live stream and a video! I was so impressed with the creativity and thought that went in to each presentation and the children gained so much knowledge!

Crew Knowles: Queen Martindale!

This week, in the run up to the Queen’s Jubilee, we have pretended to be the queen and written letters to invite all of our loyal citizens to the jubilee celebrations!

We have had to use some really formal vocabulary and try to get in to the mindset of a royal! I am so proud of how hard everyone has worked on their writing over the past couple of weeks!

Sophia sent me a video of herself reading out her letter (hat included!) and I loved it so much I just had to share it with everyone!

Also, here’s our lovely crew wearing red, white and blue to celebrate the jubilee!

Crew Knowles: we are researchers!

Crew Knowles are really enjoying learning all about the plague and it’s gruesome symptoms! We have furthered our learning today by researching other deadly outbreaks throughout history including Spanish Flu, Covid-19, Smallpox and Cholera.

I can’t wait for each group to share their research and learning tomorrow.

Y5/6 Family Learning!

Wow! Year 5/6 had such a lovely Family Learning event this afternoon! They were each able to choose an activity to participate in and each activity linked to our current expedition about looking after our minds and bodies.

The activities on offer were Zumba, football rounders, tag rugby, bench ball, outdoor cooking and making healthy meals!

It looked like all the children and adults were having lots of fun and it was great to see the adult participation. Thank you to all that attended and we hope you enjoyed it!

Y5/6 – Ready Steady Cook!

This afternoon in Y5/6 Family Learning the children took part in different activities linked to our expedition. I enjoyed hosting a Ready Steady Cook challenge and we had a fantastic time creating healthy and creative dishes. Well done everyone – I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

Harry Potter Hamper Raffle!

Y6 are looking to raise money to help fund some of our upcoming leavers celebrations such as buying leavers hoodies and autograph books.

We have 2 fantastic Harry Potter hampers to give away to 2 lucky winners!

Your child will bring home a strip of raffle tickets this week which are 50p per ticket. If you would like to buy any, please add in your tickets and the correct amount of money in to a sealed envelope and pass on to your class teacher. If you would like more tickets, please see the school office.

The raffle will be drawn on Friday 17th June. Good luck!

Crew Knowles: Lilly-Grace!

We are currently learning about the plague and medieval medicines which Lilly-Grace has a fantastic knowledge of! She created a fantastic set of slides at home to share with her crew this morning. They were really helpful and allowed us all to learn something new!

Thank you Lilly-Grace!

Y5/6 Family Learning Reminder

On Tuesday 24th May at 1:45pm it is our Y5 and Y6 Family Learning event. The children will be asked to select from a range of activities that link to our expedition ‘How can a healthy lifestyle impact our mind and body?’. Many of these activities will be taking place outdoors and we suggest you come suitably dressed for if your child selects to do a sporting activity.

We hope you can join us!

Y6: Mini First Aiders

Year 6 completed their mini first aid course today learning lots of essential skills. They were taught all about what to do in the case of burns, wounds and choking. The children have also learnt how to safely perform CPR. Over all the children have gained some invaluable skills which may help to save lives!
