Class 12 – vocabulary in reading

Class 12 are really impressing me in our reading lessons. This one was focused on vocabulary. Here the children had to match a definition to the correct word. All words have been selected from our focus text. When the definitions were matched and checked they then set to work using the new vocabulary in their own sentences, allowing me to see if they were able to use the words in the correct context. Great job guys!

Year 2 – Martin Lamb Castle Talk!

Today, Year 2 had a special expert visitor Martin Lamb. Martin spoke to Year 2 about castles and how they were made. He even brought in bricks to let us ‘destroy’ William the Conqueror’s castle. Amongst the ‘destruction’, we learnt many new facts. These included the fact that round castles were harder to siege. We even learned about new weapons such as catapults. All in all, it is fair to say Year 2 loved their expert visitor.

Despite not feeling her best, Elea has been making sure that she keeps her mind busy by completing word searches and making puzzles by answering maths questions! Elea has been looking forward to seeing her friend Millie and is hoping to complete some more homework! Well done Elea!

Class 9 | War Medals

This morning, George brought in his great-great-grandfather’s medals that he earned during the Second World War. It was lovely to hear some of the stories that George had to tell about him, including how he earned his Military Medal for bravery!
