Today we played a great game of ‘roll on the wall’. This is whether the children got so many seconds to look at a picture before running back to their group to copy it from memory. Whilst having fun, we were also learning the different ways that animals can be classified!
We have been learning about food chains and the flow of energy through the chain from the producer to the consumers. We enjoyed playing an interactive game and constructing different food chains whilst also learning whether each animal was a carnivore, omnivore or herbivore.
Class 12 had great fun learning about perimeter and understanding to work it out! We started off using squares to help us but have since moved on to more challenging questions, including irregular shapes!
Class 11 have been learning all about food chains and that it shows how energy passes through different creatures, beginning with consumers all the way to the main predator. Class 11 showed great knowledge and came up with some fantastic food chains of their own, labelling the variety of creatures, their role and explaining how energy passes through these animals.
Class 11 are fully focused on understanding time. Yesterday, we learned how to compare time by working together. We used our knowledge of digital clocks and analogue clocks to help us get through the session with lots of confidence!
Class 11 had the task of working on posters or creating mind maps about healthy living, based on a text that gave facts about healthy food. Class 11 more than stood up to that challenge and produced some superb work. Well done, guys! 😆
This week we are learning that ‘ow’ can make an /oa/ sound as in the words ‘blow’ and ‘snow’.
Our Shared Reader this week is called ‘Clever Crows’.

To continue with our Design and Technology case study and to generate recipes for our book product KS1 have been making healthy desserts today. We used skills such as chopping and peeling to create our parfaits which included foods from 3 of the 5 food groups that make up a healthy meal that has made up part of our learning in the case study. Why not ask your child to explain them to you? Below are photographs of the children from class 7 making their desserts. Great job guys…and a huge thanks to Mrs Clay for supervising the activity.
