Class 9’s FWB!

What an amazing first week back we have had in Class 9! We began the week by exploring camp GreenTop with Mr Kershaw where we made smores on the fire and used amazing communication and listening skills in our team building challenges. Class 9 also blew Mr Overson away with their orienteering skills.

Our week has been full of excitement, laughter and lots of fun. We focused a lot of our learning around our different character traits and considered how we can improve on these throughout our journey in year 3. We also practised democracy and voted for our Crew Council, digital leader, reading ambassador and active sports ambassador. The children have shown great courage. I could not be prouder.

We finished our amazing week with the ‘water extravaganza’. I hope the children enjoyed this as much as I did! I can’t wait to see what the rest of our year is going to be like Class 9! Have a lovely weekend! – Miss Cooper x

Class 7 – FWB Day 4!

What a lovely start to the day we had by singing our songs down Finkle Street and then handing out the key rings that we made. We even handed out our key rings to make people smile!

We then visited a local care home and sang songs, before handing out our cards to the residents!

Finally, we ended the day by having our water fun activities!

Class 8’s wonderful first week back!!!

This morning, year 2 went into Thorne and sang some of our beautiful crew songs. They were amazing and we got some awesome feedback from the public. We then walked down finkle street handing out keyrings that we had made, just to make people smile!

This afternoons water fight was also amazing! We had so much fun and got very wet!!! I hope the children have enjoyed today as much as I have…have a wonderful weekend!!! X x x

Class Spetch – What a wonderful first week!

Wow, what a fantastic start to Year 5 we’ve had this week. We’ve been so busy but had SOOOO much fun.

We’ve supported the Thorne and Moorends Food Bank and are very grateful to everyone who was able to send in a donation. The volunteers at the Food Bank are extremely thankful for how much we managed to collect in only 2 days!

We’ve also completed some collaborative artwork and now have some fantastic wood cookies displaying our Character Traits.

We enjoyed our time at Camp Green Top and took part in Mr Kershaw’s water challenge which was great fun and we even managed to win despite getting a little wet!!

Not forgetting our amazing Year 5 campout on Wednesday. The children enjoyed their gorgeous food from Jenson’s Mum and Dad’s van and enjoyed being together and taking part in campfire games. The children made some postcards to show their gratitude and Jenson presented these to his parents during the camp out. Yesterday afternoon, we completed the orienteering challenge and despite being VERY tired Macky and Junior still managed to come SECOND place in the whole school! Great job boys!

This afternoon, we’re looking forward to the Water Challenge so keep an eye out for the photographs!

An amazing start to the year, I can’t wait for what’s to come.

Y6 Orienteering

Yesterday, we took part in a whole KS2 orienteering competition where children had to use maps, teamwork and speed to get around the markers on the course in the quickest time! Shout out to all of Y6 for completing the course and working together as a Y6 crew. There was definitely some competition on show!

Year 3 – Being Good Crew Members in our Local Community (during FWB)

In Year 3, our first week back has been ALL about exploring what makes a good crew member because ‘if we get crew right, we get everything right!’ so on Wednesday, we thought about how we could be good crew members in our local communities – both within school and beyond! Then, to put this into action we went out and about to litter pick in Thorne Memorial Park. We even found a little bit of time to play and rest, and to take in the beautiful boards there made by last years’ Year3/4 children … who knows where our beautiful work will end up this year?! The children were a real credit to us all and we were so proud of their beautiful behaviour out in the community – great job boys and girls!
