KS1 Community Crew Meeting

WOW what a brilliant first community crew meeting of the Summer term! We have had some awesome stewardship shoutouts, amazing HOWL point winners, even some reading certificates earned too. Most importantly, we have had some hard working Out Of This World winners too!

These young people have been working so hard to be kind, work hard AND get smart and we are all so proud of them!

Finally, a HUGE shoutout to Crew Cooper for getting 100% attendance this last week too, they will get to display Paddington the Attendance bear proudly in their crew room!

Class 11 fossils 🪨

Today, Class 11 have looked into the process of fossilisation. We learned that happens overtime, after animals decompose, layers of sediment rises over the bones and these eventually turn into rock. We know that they are rare to find, too. We even made our own fossils, which we will come back to tomorrow!

Bingo Night tickets now on sale!

On Thursday 18th May, Year 6 will be hosting a ‘Family Bingo Night’ in the school hall.

This is an event for children and their families who attend Green Top, therefore all children must be accompanied by a grown-up so that they can play the game. Entrance tickets cost 50p per person – a ticket must be purchased for each person attending the event.  Admission is by ticket only.

Due to fire regulations ticket availability is strictly limited.  Tickets will go on sale on Thursday 27th April.  If you would like to purchase tickets, please send money in an envelope clearly labelled with your child’s name, class and the number of tickets required.  The Year 6 children will collect from classrooms and allocate tickets accordingly.

Doors will open at 5:30pm with ‘Eyes Down’ at 6:00pm.

The cards for each game will be on sale on the night and cost £1 a strip. Of course, you can play as many strips as you can manage in each game. There will be 6 games during the evening with lots of chocolate themed prizes. Refreshments will be on sale during the evening and all funds raised are to go towards the Year 6 Leavers Hoodies and end of year celebrations.   A raffle will also be held – if you are able to donate a prize for this it would be greatly appreciated.

I do hope you will be able to support us at this event. The more people who come the better the atmosphere so please do try to fit this event into your diary.

Ks1 skipping week

The children have all been practising their skipping skills this week and we have been keeping a tally of how many skips have taken place across school. I’m so proud of the efforts that the children have put in to learning how to skip and can’t wait for the skipping race on sports day!

Well done guys!

Crew Knowles Rocks!

Today we completed an investigation to find the best rocks for different scenarios. We had to test the different properties of the rocks to find the most suitable rock for a worktop, a statue, a skate park ramp and a roof! This involved sanding, water and using vinegar on the rocks!

Class 10 Rock Detectives!

Class 10 have been rock detectives this afternoon. We have been investigating the properties of different rocks to decide which ones would be best for a specific job such as roof tiles or statues. Everyone has worked hard to complete the investigation sheets and I think everyones favourite test was the white vinegar test. Great work from everyone this afternoon. Mrs Pearson and I are very proud of you all!

Class 10 – scrap tornado poems (as promised)

Here are class 10s completed scrap tornadoes with their poems included and backed on display! They really do look amazing, great job again guys!!

My favorite words and phrases from these are ‘winding winds’, ‘dashing’, ‘gusting’, ‘overpowered’, ‘column of air’, and ‘Devastating destruction’. Some amazing description, yet so simple! ☺️🌪️
