Crew Knowles have loved the fact it has been National Read a Book Day today and we have read lots of stories! A special thank you to our Bodhi (one of our learning councillors) who visited us this afternoon to read a story! George also wanted to read a story to our crew and we can’t wait for him to finish it tomorrow!
What a great day of reading we’ve had from our reading block lesson to listening to our learning council read to us – we have loved it. A special thank you to Reef for fantastic reading, in hot conditions – Crew Gerrard loved it!
As part of National Read a book day we were very lucky to have some members of our Learning Council visit us today. They came to read us a story and we enjoyed it so much!
The children were so engaged and the Learning Council were so confident and interacted with our youngest pupils beautifully.
Thank you for such a lovely treat.
Mrs Wallace and Miss Carter 😊
This morning, the children in KS1 were granted a meeting with Susan Durant our local Mayor where they found out all about her fantastic work in the community as well as the work of the local food bank. The children asked lots of questions about Susan’s work and experiences and were able to share the fabulous community work they have been getting up to these last two weeks. Susan was super impressed with the children and enjoyed her visit so much, including sharing a tasty lunch in our lunch hall. Thank you so much for visiting, Susan – we look forward to working with you again soon!

This afternoon, Class 7 have been helping local shoppers to pack their bags and the store staff to clear and tidy the shelves. Well done boys and girls – you are all superstar heroes! One little job for Class 7, an afternoon of smiles for the shoppers of Thorne 🙂
Today, as part of Hook Week, the children have been having fun making catapults out of lollipop sticks. We then had a competition to see who could fire them the furthest, with Natalia and Katie’s catapult winning!
This morning, we spent some time exploring different books that we wouldn’t normally read. We also shared our favourite books to give good recommendations to others!
