Class 10 goes to the library! 📚
Well, it is safe to say that Class 10 loved their trip to the library this morning! We loved the walk and the fresh air to get there. More importantly, we loved exploring the library and reading and looking at lots of different books. Some of us even squeezed into the tightest spots to read a good book. We had lots of fun!
Class 8’s fantastic box models
Class 8 really enjoyed making their houses, that we used today to deliver our fire safety session. They worked hard to make them look traditional in style. Well done class 8! They look amazing on display in our corridor!

PCSO visit for year 2!
Today year 2 have had a visit from two local PCSO’s this morning. They told us how to help and support our local community and what they do to keep us safe. The children have asked some great quesitons and have really enjoyed the visit. Thank you PCSO Ben!
Class 8 computing fun!
Class 8 used ipads yesterday to take a photo of some of their art work or a picture that links to the Great Fire of London and then with a partner they inserted it onto a new slide. They then learnt how to add a text box and wrote a title on the slide. We are going to be learning a lot more skills on our ipads but I was very impressed with their Stickability Stan attitudes. Well done Class 8

Key stage 1 community crew meeting
A huge number of certificates handed out this week for reading, maths, stewardship and howl points. Well done to all of our winners and our community crew champions this week. Crew Shaw have won attendance again this week with 100%! Well done everyone, keep working hard.

Class 8’s visit to the library
We took a lovely walk to Thorne library this morning to enhance our Reading week. We had such a fantastic time there and and the librarians were so welcoming. The children got to choose a book to read for their own pleasure…something that interested them. We then had a chance to share some books that they wanted to recommend to their friends. We looked at non-fiction books about prehistoric animals and space, as well as a couple of pictures books; one about nature and another about owls.
The children have been given a form if they would like to sign up for the library and I would love to hear if any visit again during half term.
They made me feel very proud of their great manners and respect for the library, as well as being so sensible, walking through Thorne
Crew Oldridge – Library Visit!
I really enjoyed joining Crew Oldridge on their library visit today! It was so lovely to spend some time looking at different books with everyone! We even found lots of non-fiction books that linked to our expeditions last year!
Black History Month and Day 2 of Reading Week in Year 1
Black history month and reading week merged beautifully this afternoon in Year 1 as Crew Rodgers and Crew Stone came together at the end of the day to listen to an event in the life of civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a powerful and beautifully illustrated book called ‘Let The Children March’ by Monica Clark-Robinson. In 1963 Birmingham, Alabama, thousands of African American children volunteered to march for their civil rights after hearing Dr. King speak. They protested the laws that kept black people separate from white people. Facing fear, hate, and danger, these children used their voices to change the world. How inspirational is that? Our children listened intently to the story and I was so proud of the mature way they discussed the children’s actions and how much they had to say about the injustice of it all.
