Today Y1 enjoyed a walk through the park and along the canal as they learnt more about the geography and history of Thorne. They loved visiting the canal lock and seeing how the water was different levels and looking at the photographs of the old shipyard.
Last night Jemima had such a busy night visiting Robyn’s house. She even got to enjoy swimming with Robyn and her cousin Heidi!
As always the day finished with a good story before bedtime. This is Jemima’s favourite part of the day because she loves a story as it relaxes her mind ready for a good nights sleep.
This afternoon we used our water colour skills to paint our own planets. The children used the paints to add layers of colour and detail to their pictures. We finished off with glitter to add a little extra sparkle.

Today Year 3 and 4 were visited by Mayor Houlbrook. Our learning for this term is based around localities and where better to start than Thorne and Moorends. So we were delighted that the Mayor was willing to come in and discuss our local area and future developments as well as his role.
We saw some fascinating things on our walk around Thorne this afternoon. We saw the memorial park and the cenotaph. We went down the canal to the lock and managed to see the lock in action. We then walked back to school past the fire station and through the park again.

Isaac, Isla, Alfie, Heidi, Benji, Reuben, James-Dean and Lara were all entered into the attendance raffle draw for having a good level of attendance this half term. Well done to James-Dean and Lara whose tickets were chosen at random to win a prize!
