Fabulous Hook Week

Class 6 had an amazing week to hook us into our new ‘Would you like to live in a place like this?’ expedition. We went on walks around Thorne to look at the different types of houses, the canal and some of the historical buildings. We made collages of some of the well known shop signs that we saw, made portraits of our families using buttons to decorate our home corner reading area and even linked our maths learning by making houses with tens sticks for walls and ones blocks for windows.

We can’t wait to learn more about the wonderful place we live in!

As always, we would like to thank you all for your support in joining us for our outings. Your help is very much appreciated.

More amazing learning

In English, we have been using a map of our classroom to find facts all about India as this is one of Phileas Fogg’s (the main character in our class book) destinations as he travels around the world. I’m sure the children will be able to remember a fact or two to tell you if you ask them!

Maths- multiplication

It has been a busy day for Class 10! Here are some snaps from Maths today where the children used cubes and made arrays to represent multiplication problems! Superstars as always 🙂

What would your planet look like?

Today we researched the different planets in our solar system and watched a short film showing twelve animated planets. This sparked our imagination on what we would call our own planets and what life on these planets would be like. The children worked in groups to design and describe their own and there were some very creative and thoughtful responses! I’d love to visit your planet especially Evan and Corey! Well done Class 13!

National Emergency Services Museum

Class 3 and 4 had an amazing day at the National Emergency Services museum. The children were very excited but behaved beautifully. They enjoyed exploring all the rooms and vehicles. Thank you so much to the parent volunteers who helped our trip to run smoothly. You were amazing and we really appreciate all your help! We hope the children told you all about what they saw and learned when they returned home!

Emergency Services Museum

Wow what an amazing trip the children loved every second!   From start to finish the children made us all so proud with their behaviour and enthusiasm.   They loved exploring the old police cells (ask them how they smelled!)  and all the different emergency vehicles from old to new.  They even got to explore some emergency scenes, try on some clothes and see a miniature emergency service set using working train play sets.  Finally a HUGE thank you to the parents that come along to support the children, you were all amazing!

Class 10’s raffle success!

Well done to this weeks winners- Travis, Roan and Ellis!

Raffle tickets can be earned for many things such as: trying super hard with your learning, following the ‘S’ rule, being kind to others, sitting smartly, showing teamwork, keeping your work-space tidy, AR quizzes, and much more!

Remember – the more raffle tickets you get, the more chance you will have of winning one of three prizes on Friday.

You have all done amazing this week Class 10 and you should all be really proud of yourselves! The raffle will restart on Monday. Have a great weekend! 🙂

Around the World in 80 Days!

Class 10 have solved the jigsaw and figured out the title of our class book! They have all predicted what they think will happen in the story, who they think the characters might be, when it was set, and have made some judgements based on the blurb. I can’t wait to start reading it with you all next week!
