Switching On Our Listening Ears

In phonics sessions this week we are working hard to get better at tuning into environmental sounds and identifying the things we can hear. The children know that they need to be quiet and switch on their listening ears to help them explore all the different sounds around them. We had great fun going on a listening walk this morning. We heard the Year 1 children having fun in their PE lesson, our footsteps on the stairs and even Mr Oldridge talking to his crew! The children were then able to draw pictures or make marks on paper to represent the sounds they heard!

Then in our independent learning time some children chose to make listening ear headbands to help them tune into sounds outside. We heard the birds in the trees, the cars passing by and the children playing in the playground. Maybe you could try and tune into some environmental sounds at home like the microwave or the kitchen tap? You could also play a listening game using the video on this link https://youtu.be/h0Kp_J9kvNM

EYFS Celebration of Learning

Today we had Pauline and Pat from Smile-a-While visit our celebration of learning. They came to meet all the EYFS children to share their story and gifts made for us by the members of the group. We received beautiful pine cone decorations, cards, gifts and chocolates. We are so extremely grateful and can’t wait to share our product and activity packs with them later in the month. We hope we can meet you again very soon. The hall was decorated with our very own decorations and the children enjoyed party games and food to finish off the party. What a wonderful day!

Kicking Off Anti-Bullying Week with Odd Sock Day

The Nursery children enjoyed showing off their odd socks today to kick start Anti-Bullying Week! We have been discussing how we can be a good friend to others and celebrate all the things that make us special and unique. This week we will be doing lots of different activities that allow the children to express themselves and celebrate our similarities and differences together.
