Table tennis talk!

Watch our reading video

In our fluency reading today we have been doing a bit of table tennis with Mrs Shaw. We are using sight words we know to speed up our fluency and to give us a chance to catch up and think about what the next word is.

Please comment year 2 to receive your HOWL points for showing your parents and carers our blogs…keep up the super work everyone. I love watching the videos of you learning 🙂

For an extra 20 HOWL points, comment with the answer to the following question:

Our text we are reading tells us who lives in castles…comment with who it says.

Good luck!

Leaning tower of pasta!

Leaning tower of pasta video

We have been learning about the power of ‘resilience’ in class 9 today.
The children were challenged to see who could build the largest tower using pasta and marshmallows. It was a lot tougher than they thought and had to continually strategise and change their tactics which led to fantastic discussions and teamwork.
I am very proud as always!
Pandora told me that she had learnt to keep trying, even if it goes wrong and I couldn’t have said it better myself 🙂

Class 9 musical performances

To conclude our music case study this term, we have composed, performed, evaluated and critiqued our compositions, which we have made to accompany a medieval piece of music.

The amount of skill and effort that has gone into the children’s work and performances has been outstanding.

Their critiques were kind, helpful and very specific because they have built up their understanding of musical vocabulary throughout the case study.

What fantastic progress has been made…well done

Read…sound…blend…repeat!

Video of echo reading

Parents, have a look at our video of class 9 and see how we use echo reading to support and enhance fluency in lessons. Why not have a go with your own child at home to help them to improve their intonation and expression.

20 HOWL points to every child who comments on this blog post. There was also a grammar mistake in the text we were reading class 9, from a published book, so if you can spot that, you can earn an extra 10 HOWL points.

Thanks for being so supportive my year 2 parents in our joint effort of improving your children’s reading skills.

Lets build some bridges crew 💚

What fantastic team work and critique this morning. The children worked in small teams to build a strong bridge that looked good and a car could go over.

Super discussions were had about the strongest structure type and the best ways to secure the equipment!

Way to go crew!!!

Monday morning crew!

This morning in class 9, we played the ABC game, where the children worked in teams to come up with a word for each letter of the alphabet, all words were, what makes a good crew member! All the children came up with some amazing words!

Crew board games

Superb team work happened this morning is class 9. All of the children were overcoming various barriers and managed to not only work successfully together in their mixed collaborative groups but they have made some fabulous games, which are innovative and creative.

They can’t wait to play each others games tomorrow and critique them.

Well done crew 💚

Music mayhem

class 9 compositions

We have been using symbols to create our own compositions today. We thought about the timbre, dynamics and pitch and how they can affect the music. Keep an eye out for our accompaniments and performances next week…we are really enjoying this case study 😊
