Maths fun madness

Crew Shaw / Jackson are absolutely loving their maths activities every morning this week. It’s lovely to see them so excited and enthused for their maths learning.

Lets hope that their love for maths sticks 💚

Can’t wait to see your exciting maths outfits tomorrow!

Peer critique

Class 9 wrote their own versions of The Lighthouse Keeper’s picnic this week with a slight twist! They made Mr Grinling much healthier and fitter so that he could win the races that he entered.

Today the children worked in pairs to peer critique their work using the year 2 writing rubric to support their assessments. I am very excited to see their final products tomorrow.

Great work crew!

Who knew maths could be fun?

This morning Crew Shaw /Jackson enjoyed playing a variety of maths games and I’ve never seen so many smiles in a morning…and all before 8.45 😄

FANTASTIC GROUP WORK

Extra big shout out for Annis and Lucas this morning for such great team work while solving their maths problems…well done!

WOW!  Well done to everyone who took the time to celebrate maths by photographing maths in our community!  We have some wonderful examples that I can’t wait to display around school.
Here are a few examples:
We will share more as the week goes on!
Wednesday’s maths challenge:
What does 100 grams look like?  Can you measure out 100g into a food bag and bring it to school?  Last year we looked at what 100 looks like and it will be great to compare 100 and 100g!
Don’t forget Friday’s maths challenge is our Maths Dress up day!  We are raising money for NSPCC and our target is £500!  We are asking for a donation of £1 (minimum).
Thank you once again for supporting our maths week!  We have started well!

Class 9 Out of this World Winners

A big well done to April who was our winner last week but absent on the Friday. She is an absolute superstar who always comes into class with a great big smile. She always follows our HOWLs and because of that is making great progress in her learning.

This week Emilea has made everyone so proud. Her listening skills are improving and she is working so hard to achieve her best in every lesson. Because of her Motivated Mo attitude she is making great progress in all her work and becoming a fantastic role model to the class.

We are super proud of you both!

Phase shout outs!!!

Massive shout out to Edward, Lilly and Jacob in crew Shaw this week for setting shining examples of being kind, working hard and getting smart!

Edward was also our crew HOWL point winner…how lucky!

Jack also took home our weekly reader award for reading the most books in our crew.

Can’t wait to see who will take the certificates home next week

I wanted to share some photos of the children working collaboratively together and leading their own learning.

They were using information around the classroom to sort food into the different food groups and we had great discussions about why we needed different food groups to be healthy

Crew Shaw challenge…

Can you remember which food group helps us to keep our bones healthy?

Any child who comments can get 50 HOWL points 🙂

Expression, expression everywhere!

I am very proud of the effort that crew Shaw have been putting into their reading recently. More books are being brought back to school to read and their fluency and expression is improving daily.

Some children wanted to share their daily fluency with you all because they know that they are getting smart and achieving their ME target.

We are getting there crew, well done 😊
