This week is National Skipping week and as a school we will be taking part to see how many jumps we can do. Each day, the children will get the opportunity to take part and count how many jumps they can do and we will create a school total each day. Watch this video to find out more.
School council will be getting involved to see who can skip or jump in the most unusual places. All you need to do to get involved is take a picture or video of you jumping or skipping somewhere unusual and send it into school. The deadline for entries is Tuesday 2nd May. Winners will be announced on Friday 5th May.
Happy skipping!
This week the children in reception have been hooking into their summer term expedition. The children have been excited to explore our guiding question ‘ Would you travel by wheels, wings or other things?’ Here are some of our magical moments from this week! We can’t wait to start case study 1 next week!
In phonics this week we have been learning the phoneme /or/ as in the word ‘corn’.
Our shared reading book was called ‘Jam Tarts in the Dark’.
Here is an example page from our shared reading book.
We had a very creative afternoon today making lots of vehicles to kick start our new expedition. The children were amazing and had fabulous ideas about the different vehicles that we could think of.
A huge thank you to all of the grown ups that managed to join us and thank you for all of your creativity.
Watch this space for pictures of the finished products in our classrooms.…
Well done Reception Crew

Hi Everyone,
We hope you have had a wonderful Easter break. On Wednesday 19th April at 1:45-2:45pm we have our Family Learning in the school hall. We ask that you bring a box with you for your child to model into a form of transport to launch our expedition ‘Would you travel by wheels, wings or other things?’
The reception team look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday afternoon!
Miss Carter and the reception team 🙂
We’ve had a lovely day today for aspirations week in reception. The children have been lucky enough to have two special visitors to see them.
This morning we had Tina Woods come to see us with Lola the dog. Who came to share her experiences of looking after dogs and how to care for them.
This afternoon we had a visit from Fireman James. Who talked all about being a fireman and talked about what they have to do and wear. The children even go to try on his hat.
We had such a lovely time at Boston Park Park yesterday. The activities were super and we really enjoyed seeing and feeding the animals. We had a tractor ride and we got to see the whole farm, it was a bit bumpy though 😊
The children were a credit to Greentop and we were so proud of them all.
A huge shoutout to all the grown ups that came with us too, we appreciate all of your help and support.
Well done Reception Crew 😊
Reminder:
On Thursday (23rd march) at 2pm there will be a repeat of the phonics themed family learning session held last week. This will be in the hall. Please arrive at the school office for 2pm to sign in and collect your child.
All reception parents are invited to attend for an afternoon of phonics fun! If you could not attend the last one and would like to come along or you would like to have another go at the activities on offer then we will see you there.
You will be able to join in with lots of early reading and writing activities and explore the FFT phonics scheme even further. The reception teaching team will be on hand to answer any questions and boost your confidence to support with phonics at home.
We look forward to seeing you 🙂
The Reception Team hope you can join us with your child on Wednesday (22nd ) at 2:00pm for our celebration of learning.
Please arrive and sign in at the school office ready for a 2:00pm start in the hall.
The children will share their learning from our current expedition ‘How do things grow and change?’
The final product saw the children decorating their own plant pots and plants dwarf daffodil bulbs inside them. The children also decorated some pots for the local community group Smile a While and these will be gifted this week.
The children will each be presented with their individually designed plant pots with a QR code on leading to the learning shared in the celebration of learning.
We look forward to seeing you.
The Reception Team X
