Crew Jackson – Fruit salad

Yesterday in expedition, we worked in mini crews to scale down a recipe to create a healthy fruit salad. As well as measuring the correct amount of each ingredient to make half the recipe, we ensured we applied our knowledge of hygiene and handling foods and equipment safely.

It was great to have an afternoon of hard work and enjoyment, where the children worked as highly effective teams, taking on roles and ensuring everyone participated.

The children went on to scale up the recipe, working out how much of each ingredient they would need if we doubled the recipe.

The afternoon was completed by eating a fresh and healthy snack made all by themselves.

Great work guys! From Mrs Jackson x

Crew Jackson – Oliver is braver than me!

Check out what Oliver got up to at the weekend. I can’t believe he was brave enough to stand in the water and let the baby sharks swim around him. Oliver loved sharing lots of new facts about the sharks with our crew and he certainly taught me things that were new!

Thanks Oliver, from Mrs Jackson

Y5/6 Super Stars!

We had another lovely community crew meeting this week celebrating all of our successes! A huge shout out to our attendance winners our and Accelerated Reader winners this week – well done!

Another special shout out for our HoWL point winners this week who have worked hard, being kind and got smart with their learning!

Let’s not forget our Out of this World winners who have all received the yellow t-shirt for their exceptional learning this week! Absolute super stars! I wonder who will get it next week!

And finally we have our Star Readers! Here are just two of our well deserving reading stars but rest assured there were many more!

Crew Jackson – Accelerated Reader Reward

Before half term, as a crew we made a pledge that when our average reached 13 we would celebrate with a party/ice-cream treat. Last Wednesday we finally reached 13 after being ‘stuck’ on 11 for a number of weeks. Everyone enjoyed crisps, ice-cream and chill out time. It was so hot on Friday the ice-cream was definitely a welcome treat! We were too hot for party games so will save these for a cooler day!

Crew Jackson – Scientific anchor charts

This afternoon, we began our DT case study. Before we can start any practical food technology, we need to ensure we understand the importance of food hygiene and safe storing and handling. We discussed food poisoning, cross-contamination and what we can do to minimise the risk. The children went on to create anchor charts that showcased their learning.

Well done everyone for great collaboartion.

My little rockstars!🥁🎤🎸

Year 5 were awesome at identifying and moving to the pulse of a rock song, imitating playing the guitar and drums.

The children were amazing as they tapped out the pulse of Livin’ On A Prayer as the class performed the song. 🥁

They also imitated playing the guitar and rocked in time to the music. 🎸

Jon Bon Jovi eat your heart out! 🎤🎶🎤🎶🎤🎶🎤
