Y5/6 celebration of learning

We would like to invite parents and carers of children in years 5 and 6 to our celebration of learning on Thursday 7th July at 5pm. We would like to share our learning from Summer term and demonstrate how we answered the guiding question: How can a healthy lifestyle impact your body and mind? The celebration will begin in the KS2 playground (weather permitting) where the children will narrate their learning with you before moving to the hall where we will showcase the videos each crew have created that help answer our question. We look forward to seeing you there.

Crew Gutteridge – Dissecting a heart!

The children got stuck in (quite literally) yesterday, dissecting and exploring a real heart! They made incisions in the 4 chambers and in the left and right ventricles, and looked for key components, identifying the main parts of a real heart such as the blood vessels, arteries, veins and heart strings. They did a great job and it was lovely to see them so engaged, motivated and interested!

Y6: Transition fun begins!

The Year 6 children enjoyed a German lesson delivered by a teacher from Trinity Academy. They enjoyed getting a taster for what is to come next year!

Those children who aren’t going to Trinity also did a great job of joining in and getting the German experience!

On Friday, the children will get to experience Spanish lessons also delivered by the teachers of Trinity! We can’t wait!

Y5/6 Community Crew Celebrations

We had a lovely community crew today celebrating lots of successes! We heard some great shoutouts and appreciations for each other and learnt who was winning the Accelerated Reader competition!

Check out some of our Star Reader’s here:

We also had lots of HoWLs point winners for the children who have worked hard, being kind and got smart this week!

Finally, we celebrated our new ‘Out of this World’ children who will receive the yellow tshirt to wear this week! Congratulations to all the winners – it is thoroughly deserved!

Y5/6 Family Learning!

Wow! Year 5/6 had such a lovely Family Learning event this afternoon! They were each able to choose an activity to participate in and each activity linked to our current expedition about looking after our minds and bodies.

The activities on offer were Zumba, football rounders, tag rugby, bench ball, outdoor cooking and making healthy meals!

It looked like all the children and adults were having lots of fun and it was great to see the adult participation. Thank you to all that attended and we hope you enjoyed it!

Y5/6 – Ready Steady Cook!

This afternoon in Y5/6 Family Learning the children took part in different activities linked to our expedition. I enjoyed hosting a Ready Steady Cook challenge and we had a fantastic time creating healthy and creative dishes. Well done everyone – I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
