Phonics lessons online

Parents of children in F2, Y1 and Y2 may want to explore this website https://lettersandsounds.org.uk/for-home/overview. This website provides pre recorded phonics lessons which can be used to support your children with the phonics screening check which typically takes place in Y1 during the Summer term.  This year our Y2 student are expected to take this phonics check during the second half term.

Friday Round Up! 2nd Oct

It’s been super busy in Class 6 this week so here is a BIG round-up of the whole week…

In maths, we have both touched down on our place value unit and blasted off again into addition and subtraction. We have also completed our very first arithmetic paper in (almost!) real test conditions – I was very impressed with everybody’s work hard attitude to achieve this. Well done!

In English, the children have been planning and drafting their touchdown writing ready for their write-up on Monday… They are writing the next part to our class focus text, Emma Jane’s Aeroplane. I can’t wait to see where she went next and who she met!

Our expedition learning this week has been all about the fascinating female pilots who broke the mould back in the early 1900’s… why not ask us about what we now know about Amy Johnson and Amelia Earhart?!

Our Learning Legends this week have been: Kaila, Marshall, Heidi, Isabelle, Poppy and Francesca… Great job guys! Our Out of this World nominee this week was Samantha who consistently works hard to get smart and achieve her very best learning, as well as always being kind to others and staying safe. She might be a quieter member of the class but she is a VERY motivated Mo! Well done, Samantha 🙂

I’m sure you will agree that Funky Friday time at the end of the week was both well needed and deserved today! Enjoy a few photos from our week below and have a fab weekend everyone 🙂

This week’s Learning Legends

Another amazing week in Class 10 with lots of hard work from everyone with the whole class getting the learning legend on Wednesday. Well done to Kian, Lewis, Leighton and Isabella for getting their learning legends this week.

What an amazing week!

I have been really impressed with how hard everyone in class 10 has worked this week. We have been learning how to use column addition in maths and continuing to look at descriptive writing in English. Look at their great work below. I can’t wait to see what we will produce next week.

Friday 25th September

Well done to today’s learning legend, Letti who has been a Connecting Connie in our Maths lesson today – great job! Our Out of this World nominee for the week was Bobby for being a Stickability Stan by working super hard to get smart – well done, Bobby!

The wild and windy weather today seemed to have whipped class 6 into a bit of a frenzy this afternoon but it was the perfect weather to find out all about the history of air travel. We learned some key facts about the Wright brothers and their invention of the very first aeroplane. Did you know that the very first flight they made only lasted 12seconds?… we don’t think they got very far!

Here’s hoping everyone has a great weekend that leads to a calm and safe landing back at school on Monday 🙂 Have fun!

Mrs Dutton & Miss O’Neill

Here are a few snaps of us enjoying some relaxing book time after our chilly (and windy) lunchtime play…

This week’s learning legends

I have been really impressed with everyone in Class 10 this week. You have blown me away with your setting description writing this week and you have shared some great adjectives.

This week’s learning legends were Hattie, Macie, Neve and Amelia. Well done for a great week girls!

Problem solving maths

In maths today we had a go at problem solving. We were using 6 counters and trying to find as many different three digit numbers as we could. It was great to see everyone working collaboratively and being a stickability Stan to keep finding different possibilities.

Thursday 24th September

Today in maths, the children loved their practical lesson using lots of different resources to show numbers up to and beyond 20 in different ways. Well done everyone on a fab & fun session!

Today’s Learning Legend appreciation goes out to not one but 3 children… Well done to Bobby who has worked super hard on his learning in class today, as well as being kind and helping his friend too. Congratulations to Poppy who wowed us with her fantastic home learning that shows she has been working hard on both her number formation and sentence writing. And, last but not least, high five to Harry who blew Miss O’Neil away with his amazing effort in phonics. Great job guys, keep up the hard work!
