It’s been a maths-tastic week for class 8 who have enjoyed celebrating the NSPCC maths week! Well done to those of you who have taken part in the at-home challenges as well 🙂

Round-Up w.c. 26.4.21

It’s all about healthy eating in KS1 at the minute! Class 8 have all enjoyed designing their own healthy meals using the 5 food groups … Do you know what they are?

What a fabulous week for crew … We have enjoyed a crew picnic to launch our new English text, The Lighthouse Keeper’s Picnic and a fabulous penguin dance outside for PE!

Round-Up w.c. 12.4.21

Wow!! Class 8 were blown away by their immersive classroom this week when they returned to school … Huge thanks go to the very talented Mrs Clay 🙂

Speak out and stay safe

In community crew this morning we talked about the NSPCC and what they do. We watched a video with Buddy and learnt that carrying all our worries can be like a heavy bag. It’s good to talk to trusted adults if we feel worried because it can make our bag feel lighter. We learnt that we can also talk to Childline if we don’t feel like we have anyone else to talk to. Have a look at our video to see what we learnt.

How many ways can you make 100?

Our maths challenge this morning was to see how many different ways we could make 100. We tried to use loads of different calculations. Well done to Rex who managed 41 different ways. Can anyone beat him?

How much is your name worth?

To start maths week, we had a look at a money problem this morning. Everyone tried to work out the value of their name to see who was the most expensive. It was great to see all the children working together to try and find the answers. I wonder if you can work out how much your name would be?

WOW!  Well done to everyone who took the time to celebrate maths by photographing maths in our community!  We have some wonderful examples that I can’t wait to display around school.
Here are a few examples:
We will share more as the week goes on!
Wednesday’s maths challenge:
What does 100 grams look like?  Can you measure out 100g into a food bag and bring it to school?  Last year we looked at what 100 looks like and it will be great to compare 100 and 100g!
Don’t forget Friday’s maths challenge is our Maths Dress up day!  We are raising money for NSPCC and our target is £500!  We are asking for a donation of £1 (minimum).
Thank you once again for supporting our maths week!  We have started well!
