Thank you so much to our parents , carers and grandparents who joined us today for our litter picking event in Thorne.
The children were overjoyed to be making a difference in their own community and thoroughly enjoyed everything about their family learning event this afternoon.
We even had residents in the local houses offering their thanks, which definitely made it worth our while.
Well done year 2 , you make me proud every day

It was lovely to be able to welcome Class 10’s family back into the classroom this week. The children enjoyed sharing everything they’ve learnt about Romans with their parents. They were also involved in some hands on activities.
Emilea has spotted our class pumpkin in Frenchgate and shared her pictures with us. I wonder if anyone else can spot it before we go back to school. Don’t forget to take a picture if you see it!
Thank you everyone for all of your support in helping us to celebrate the launch of our Sunmer 2021 recipe cards where we learnt about countries around the world, healthy living and where food comes from.
There were fantastic food options to taste and information to read about the countries that the children studied closely.
We hope you enjoy the video and agree with us about the success of last year’s expedition.
Thanks to everyone involved

This week we have been decorating a pumpkin that will be placed in the Frenchgate Centre over half term. I wonder if anyone can find it and share their photos with us.
We spent some more time looking at stereotypes this week. Today, we focused on different jobs.
We started off thinking out what roles are stereotypical associated with men and women. We then discussed what we thought about these stereotypes and looked again at where to put the jobs.
Then, we talked about what we wanted to be when we grew up and that we can do anything regardless off stereotypes.
KS1 held their first phase assembly in the hall this morning, in 18 months! What a pleasure it was to see your smiling faces altogether again! Check out the gallery of photographs below for our certificate winners. We also presented some Reading Champion awards for the children who have read the most books from their reading packs and Paddington the attendance bear was very happy to be spending the next week with the crew who had the most children in school every day…..well done CrewDutton.
Keep up the good work guys!
Thank you so much to those parents who came and spoke to me to let me know the issue with the homework menu.
The google classroom link was sent out 3 weeks ago but due to a lot of reasons, we haven’t chased up who has accessed it and who hasn’t so I apologise for that.
Please don’t worry if you are only just hearing about it now, the homework menu is there for you to access in your own time, as and when you would like.
If you are unsure of how to access it: follow these instructions:
Go onto the school website
Press the ‘login’ button
Enter your child’s email address: [email protected]
Enter your child’s password: password
Then click onto the email app
There should be an email inviting you to join our year 2 classroom.
Thanks so much for understanding and as always, there is someone on the door so please do ask us if you are unsure
Mrs Shaw
A big shout out to Aidan, Annabel, Heidi and Benji in year 2 for completing some great homework so far this term. They have accessed the year 2 classroom and chosen different activities to complete. These have all been shared in our classes too.
Great work guys!
