This afternoon, Y5&6 were lucky to receive a visit from Watson Boas who plays rugby league for Doncaster and Papu New Guinea. As part of the build up to the World cup Watson shared his experiences of growing up playing rugby and how he came to be a professional rugby player. Thank you Watson and I am sure we will be cheering you on in October at the World cup!
Here are the list of raffle prizes that have been kindly donated so far from businesses and individuals within the local community. Any further donations, no matter how big or small, would be hugely appreciated. If there are any further donations, please could they be brought into school by Wednesday 30th June. The final deadline to purchase tickets (£1 per strip) will be Friday 2nd July, with all proceeds going towards Year 6 hoodies and celebrations. Anyone is welcome to buy tickets, just send money into school in a labelled envelope and class teachers will ensure it makes its way to the right place. Thank you for your generosity, all of those who have donated – check out the business pages below.
More images and updates to follow soon.
The Y6 girls have enjoyed their second session today as part of the Active Fusion programme! It certainly looks like they’re having fun!
I would like to say a big well done to all of those Year 5 and 6 children who were able to bring in donations for our local food bank. We have managed to collect a fantastic amount which will hopefully go towards those who need it the most. Well done!
Y5/6 had the pleasure of meeting Ray today and learning about his inspirational story! Ray is almost 80 and has raised an incredible amount of money for a range of charities through his love of running! In the past, Ray ran 75 marathons in 75 days and even ran 150 miles without stopping! Wow!
We are going to support Ray on his upcoming 80th birthday by taking part in his next challenge – for 80 schools to run 80 miles! We’re very excited to get involved in running a mile but might need to put a bit of training first!
The Year 6 girls are currently getting active and have been lucky enough to be offered extra sporting sessions as part of a planned programme delivered by an expert.
This week they have been building on their netball skills by practising the different passes and communication skills.
Well done girls!
Yesterday afternoon, Y5/6 enjoyed a visit from our local key worker Mr Fenwick. Mr Fenwick works for the Humberside fire and rescue service and has worked throughout the pandemic. The children enjoyed listening all about his role throughout the pandemic and how he helped the local communities. Thank you!
Check out some of the photographs taken by our Year 6 children on their recent visit to the Thorne Community Woods. Their photography skills are getting better and better as the weeks go by!
This week, Sophie has been out capturing some fantastic photographs of the world around us. It is clear to see that she is using many of the techniques we have looked at in lesson and applied them well within her own work.
These look amazing Sophie, hopefully we will be able to see more of your fantastic photography in the future. Well done!
