Jam Jars Needed – Can you help?

We are starting to collect all the resources we need for the year 3/4 product and are running short on jam jars for all the children to have 2 each for their product.

If you have jam or anything in a small glass jar, we would be very grateful if you could bring this to school for us to use when you have finished.

Thank you to those who have already helped the cause and brought some in for us!

We Will Rock You

Year 5 were singing stars today performing the Bon Jovi classic Livin’ On A Prayer.
They then listened to the rock anthem We Will Rock You by Queen and each class agreed that the hook of the song was the famous ‘clap, clap, stomp’ rhythm. They identified the similarities and differences between the two songs and then blew me away as they recorded the various musical elements, including the pulse, rhythm and texture of both songs.
Well done my super rockstars!

Scientists exploring evaporation!

We’ve held another fab investigation today in Expedition. To further support our learning about the changes of state, we focussed today on liquid escaping in to a vapour by boiling a kettle and observing the change.

Frustratingly, some of our predictions weren’t correct as some children predicted that we would have more water due to water changing back in to a liquid through condensation however, we learnt how that part of the process didn’t occur as the water left the kettle and evaporated.

We concluded our investigation with a bar chart and a written explanation of our findings- just like a true scientist!

Spin the Wheel Treats!

When you’re crowned the HoWL point winners for this week, there’s only one thing for it….a photoshoot with your well deserved ice creams!

A huge shout out to everyone in Crew Faulding for working hard, getting smart and being kind! You guys certainly racked up those HoWL points last week!

So proud of you all and how hard you’ve tried not only last week but every single week this half term!

Celebrating the Jubilee!

We’ve had the most special day celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee today. We have created royal pop art in the style of Andy Warhol, enjoyed a royal feast aka a chicken burger…we’ve heard it’s Her Majesty’s favourite dish right now to eat and have also enjoyed reading about the Queen’s journey during her reign and watched the most gorgeous short film about The Queen’s hat going on an adventure.

All in all, it’s been fab!

I feel lucky that I have got to share it with my wonderful crew 🙂

Performing Poetry

It was also great to make links between the poem ‘Dreams of Escape’ and our science case study, discussing changing state.

You’ve all been getting smart today by working collaboratively across two crews! You stars!

Well done!

Mrs Faulding and Miss Myers

Our changing state experiment!

We’ve been scientists and writers in today’s expedition lesson. We’ve loved this morning investigating how the temperature can change when a block of ice changes state.

As well as getting smart with our scientific knowledge, we’ve also used this experiment to work on our writing features too as we wrote up our experiment and plotted the results on to a graph.

Well done guys, I’m proud of how sensible you conducted yourselves during this investigation and your great predictions you had.

Year 4 Family Learning

Well done to everyone on taking part in our very own Dragon’s Den by designing your very own sweet treat! It was a brilliant afternoon with lots of smiles and enthusiasm.

Our Green Top dragon’s were so impressed by all of your ideas too and had a challenging task by deciding our winners.
