This week, the children in school worked together to research and collect information on Skara Brae. They then created their own presentations using Google Docs or Slides. I was really impressed with how hard everyone worked to put together their new knowledge and was really proud of you all for standing in front of each other and presenting your learning. Lots of really positive Crew attitudes were shown throughout – well done to you all.

Skara Brae

This week as part of our History case study we have been looking at the stone age settlement of Skara Brae. Y5 have used their research skills to put together presentations all about Skara Brae and we have been blown away with the quality of work they have produced whilst home learning. Well done Y5

Just keep Skimming, Just keep Skimming 🐠📚

This week, we are focussing on improving and mastering our reading skills. Yesterday, we focussed on Skimming and Scanning and accurately retrieving an answer and key information from a variety of texts.

I was really impressed with both the children at home and at school with your excellent motivation to improve your reading and the pledges you have set yourself to improve.

Well done everyone, keep up the good work!

Using Jamboard in English💫

This week we have been getting used to using Jamboard as part of English. We enjoyed magpying ideas from each other and reading each other’s examples. The children from school joined too so they could see the great work that everyone at home was completing. Well done to everyone for being Stickability Stans yesterday, the fishbone lesson was difficult but you all did your very best and I was super impressed!

SKELLIG – Hook lesson

Today, we introduced ourselves to our new class text – SKELLIG. We used the front cover of the book and film to predict what we thought the story would be about and discussed the similarities and differences using the images. There were lots of great ideas and I was also really impressed with the ideas from everyone working at home, it was awesome to see all your ideas presented on the jamboard slides! I can’t wait to read more of the story tomorrow.
