Running with Ray!

Y5/6 had the pleasure of meeting Ray today and learning about his inspirational story! Ray is almost 80 and has raised an incredible amount of money for a range of charities  through his love of running! In the past, Ray ran 75 marathons in 75 days and even ran 150 miles without stopping! Wow!

We are going to support Ray on his upcoming 80th birthday by taking part in his next challenge – for 80 schools to run 80 miles! We’re very excited to get involved in running a mile but might need to put a bit of training first!

What makes a good story?

Today in Year 5, we have looked at different story extracts and picked out the different features of each. We looked at what makes a good story and what could make a story even better! This is leading to writing our own narrative next week which we are very excited about!

Y5/6 Key Worker Visit

Yesterday afternoon, Y5/6 enjoyed a visit from our local key worker Mr Fenwick. Mr Fenwick works for the Humberside fire and rescue service and has worked throughout the pandemic. The children enjoyed listening all about his role throughout the pandemic and how he helped the local communities. Thank you!

Class 16 Reading for pleasure

This morning Class 16 have enjoyed bringing in a book from home and reading for pleasure. We have enjoyed having juice and biscuits and reading our favourite books. Well done to everyone, we will definitely be doing this again after half term!

Crew Ambler Reading River

Yesterday in Crew Ambler, we discussed everything that we had read in the last 24 hours and created our reading river. We were amazed at the variety of materials that we all read in 24 hours. Well done Crew Ambler I really enjoyed doing this activity with you.

An exciting visit from our very own expert!

This week year 5 and 6 had a visit from our very own trust expert – Geoff, our trust photographer!  He worked with us on the types of angles, edits and stories we can create using photography.

Our collection of photographs tell the story…after all ‘a picture paints a thousand words!’

Horrid Henry

I would like to give Kaleb a big shout out making his reading poster based on his favourite series of books Horrid Henry. I will be putting this on display in our reading area. Thank you Kaleb!
