Fossil artwork

As part of crew Thurkettle’s expedition learning today they have used crayons to create some amazing fossil rubbings. They thoroughly enjoyed this hands on learning experience.

As well as that, they have painted their very own salt dough fossils and they look extremely realistic. Thank you Mrs Hardman for making today such fun, year 4 have learnt so much!

Year 3/4 phase assembly!

What a wonderful catch up in year 3 and 4 today. Staff gave shout outs to crew members that had gone above and beyond this week in our HOWLs of ‘working hard, being kind and getting smart’. This week a lot of discussion was around children demonstrating hard work in their assessments. Well done to Crew Mumby this week, you narrowly won this week’s Howl point challenge and spun the wheel to win DOUBLE FUNKY FRIDAY TIME!

The challenge is now on in each crew to work hard, be kind and get smart in all that you do to win a spin of the wheel!

I wonder: Discuss with your crew leaders prizes that you’d like to see on our wheel of fortune! Leave a comment below if you wish.

The water cycle – woo woo! (ask the kids…)

This week we have been real scientists and have completed an experiment, making our very own miniature water cycles! If you get chance, please ask the children about this; their knowledge on evaporation and condensation is awesome and they have worked so hard with our science case study this week! x

PE!

Get these guys! The next best hockey team! Really impressed with the concentration of all children in PE this week. They worked extremely hard to use a variety of skills (which they have learnt over the last few weeks) all at once- it is definitely paying off guys and lots of progress is being made! Well done x

My superstars in action in ALL Block

Blown away with this fabulous bunch in ALL Block this week! We revisited and added to our norms so that we were all clear with how the session should be and they have done amazing. They have worked extremely hard on all stations (whether that be independent or collaborative), they have answered questions in lots of detail from their reading, and they have been really engaged. Really impressed; keep it up guys! x

Awesome Art

Class 13 loving their art lesson with Mrs Green the other day!!!! Them lollies look good enough to eat guys! x

We are crew!

Class 13 are loving our new crew shoutout board! It is so lovely to see and hear the children noticing and praising each other for how fabulous they all are (because they really really are!) and also how we have been giving HOWL shout outs too (work hard, be kind, get smart). They are making me extremely proud- well done Crew Thurkettle! x

Super Maths

Some fabulous collaboration these past few weeks with our maths work! In these pictures, the children were practising their multiplication skills and coaching each other so that everyone understood before we moved on to reasoning and problem solving! Super stars x

🎃🍁🍂Happy half term 🎃🍁🍂

At Green Top we are sad that family learning can’t take place as it would usually in our classrooms and therefore we have pledged to have a family learning activity each half term for the whole school community to get involved with.

The first family learning challenge will be a ‘Carve or Decorate your own pumpkin’ competition. This competition will be judged on 31st October. There can be one entry per child and all entries must be entered by a photograph sent to [email protected] by the 12pm Tuesday 27th October. As photographs are entered they will be blogged on the website for all to see. All students who enter will receive a ‘treat’ on their return to school on 2nd November.

In addition one winner will be selected from each phase. Winners will be announced on October 31st.
