We are excited to confirm details of our Family Learning event on Wednesday 7th May. We ask parents to arrive at the office at 2pm for a fun filled hour with our children where we will be building on our skills in chair drumming! Let’s hope the sun keeps shining!

Crew Spetch – Job roles in the mine
This morning in our history lesson, we investigated the different job roles in the mine and discussed what life would have been like for miners.
We used our new knowledge of the different job roles to create freeze frames. The children loved this and I was really impressed with the creativity of their freeze frames! What a great discussion based lesson, it was great to hear all of your wonderful ideas!
Crew Spetch – Researching key dates in mining history!
This morning, we have researched key dates throughout history linked to mining. The children then used their research to create their own timelines! A huge shoutout to everyone for a great focus on their Craftsmanship & Quality!
Year 5 – Reading fluency pro’s
This week, we put our fluency skills to the test and the children worked in pairs to use fluency assessment grids to assess their partners reading. They used the grid to highlight and give supportive critique and feedback to each other. It was lovely to hear lovely, kind feedback being shared! Well done everyone!
Year 5 – Chair Drumming
This week we took chair drumming outside in to the lovely sunshine!
Well done to everyone for joining in. We even looked at some different musical notations!
We definitely have some musicians in the making!
Crew Spetch – Headstock Silhouette artwork
Yesterday, we used wax crayons and card to create a silhouette of a headstock. Everyone created their own image that now look beautiful on our new Expedition display!

What a lovely start to Summer term celebrating our Crew Champions and hearing all the wonderful comments about you all! I wonder who will be next to win their Character Trait badges!

Year 5 – Chair Drumming!
Yesterday, Year 5 enjoyed their first session with Mr Pickles learning chair drumming. It was great to see all the children involved and joining in! Well done everyone – what a fab afternoon!
Year 5 – Treasure Hunt
This morning, we went outside to complete a treasure hunt looking at information, maps and images that all link to our Summer Expedition.
We used these to write down a list of things we would like to find out more about during our first case study!
We already can’t wait to find out more about what life was like as a miner!
Y5/6 Presentation of Learning
We had a lovely presentation of learning this afternoon with lots of adults coming to celebrate the work completed this expedition. We also sold lots of gorgeous notebooks and we loved seeing them going off to their new homes!
