The Big Battery Hunt

Big Battery Hunt is back for its second year! - Primary Treasure Chest

What is the big battery hunt?

The Big Battery Hunt is a nationwide battery recycling programme for schools funded by Duracell. Its aim is to increase the number of batteries currently being recycled in the UK. Pupils are challenged to collect as many batteries as they can, encouraging their communities to do the same.

All you need to do is take any unwanted batteries into school and give them to your school councillor. The school council will collect the batteries, keep count of them and recycle them for you. Let’s see how many we can collect this year!

Class 6: World Book Day

We had a lovely day today for World Book Day. The children looked amazing in their costumes. In the afternoon we enjoyed having the freedom to write our own stories and I was amazed at what the children wrote. We had lots of fun reading our stories to each other. Our costume winner was Millie with her amazing Wednesday Addams costume! Well done Millie!

Wrap of the day!

Today class 6 have enjoyed making healthy wraps, which is linked to their case study 3 in expedition. The children had lots of fun making them and were able to follow the instructions on preparing the wrap. They were showing off their skills of grating and chopping the ingredients.

A huge well done everyone, I am really proud of you all!

Maths Superstars

Today we celebrated our efforts towards improving our maths skills. Lots of the children have been downloading and playing the Numbots and TTRockstars apps and practising their maths skills. Some of the children have also been ultra competitive and come in to school each morning buzzing about their new achievements and comparing scores.

Today we celebrated the children’s achievements so far in our first certificate presentation.

Spencer won the TTRockstars certificate for ’Most Coins Earned’ so far.

Phoenix won the Numbots certificate for ’Most Minutes Played’. Jude was in 2nd place and Spencer in 3rd.

Lots of children also received certificates for passing stages when playing in the story mode.

Well done Class 6 I am so proud of all the effort you are putting into your learning at home as well as at school!

Academic Crew

This week we have been reflecting on all our achievements so far in Year 1. It was lovely to hear all the things the children feel they have achieved.
