The children had a super time learning about the different roles of the police last week. The loved looking at the different vehicles and learning about how the police use dogs and drones. Thank you to our awesome visitors. We had an amazing time and learned lots of new things about the police.
I am so impressed with the children’s attitude towards their home learning. Not only are they practising their reading and Numbots but we have also had some beautiful home learning. Thank you so much to everyone who has sent in beautiful homework. We are really enjoying sharing our homework in our crew sessions and the children have been adding their HoWL point to our class charts. I wonder who will be this week HoWL point winner?
Here is a selection of just some of the homework we have celebrated:
Nyah made the Bakery on Pudding Lane – This is amazing Nyah! What a super model. Martha has been eading in different locations.Izaak has donated his old things to charity. Isla has been recording the colour of the cars passing her house. Poppy has been writing a dream diary.Marnie has done some super maths!
Today the children have been making box model Tudor Houses. I was so impressed with their independence and skills. Thank you to Mrs Green and Mrs Hardman who also helped the children today. What amazing models they are! We still have some finishing off to do on some of the models but the children have done a great job. Well Done Class 5!
On Thursday Class 5 had such a fantastic morning in their drama workshop. We had a fantastic lady who was in role throughout the session, talking about the Great Fire of London and recapping the children’s learning. First she pretended to be Mr Farriner, the baker believed to have owned the bakery that started the fire. Next she became Samuel Pepys who wrote a diary all about the fire. The Children were answering lots of questions and she was very impressed with what they knew. The children then did their own freeze frame pictures and acted out a story in groups, as well as singing rounds of ‘London’s Burning!’ We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and got so much out of it! Well done class 5. I am so proud of how you can talk about the learning you have done so far.
I am so proud of how the children are challenging their own learning at home as well as at school. Many of the children in Class 5 have logged into Numbots and passed levels though playing the games. On Friday we had our first Numbots certificate presentation. Look how many certificates have been earned in the first few weeks! Keep it up Class 5!
Look how many children have completed the first level of Numbots! Congratulations to you all. Arlo was 1st place in assembly this week for passing the most levels with three stars!Aurelia was in second place and Isla in third. Well done superstars! Our top three Numbots players – Izaak, Arlo and Martha. Well done for passing level two and collecting your ‘Iron Level’ certificates!
Next Thursday, 28th September, KS1 are looking forward to welcoming a drama workshop group into school to find out more about the Great Fire of London. As part of this immersive experience we would like to invite children to get dressed up as a child from the Tudor period. Please see pictures attached for some inspiration. Whilst we would love to see as many children as possible dressed up, please do not feel the need to go to any expense for this as it is optional and children will still benefit greatly from the workshop experience whether dressed up or in uniform.
Thank you for your continued support, the KS1 team x
In club today some of our year 2 children were coaching others by showing and explaining how to partition 2 digit numbers. We had lots of great learning from everyone! I am really proud of you all!! 😊
