Today we trialled a new style phase assembly and it was so great to see all of our superstars this week receiving their certificates!
we had shout outs, reading challenge winners, HOWL point winners and our Out of this world winners!
I also need to give a special mention to year 1 for learning our phase song so well…such beautiful singing…well done everyone x x
To celebrate class 6 absolutely smashing their phonics check this week I treated them to a delicious ice lolly this afternoon. As you can see they really enjoyed them.
I’m super proud of you. A massive well done to you all!
On Monday we re-hooked the children into our current expedition, Diverse Doncaster – Where do I belong? by inviting them to compare their own school experience to that of a Victorian child. We changed our seating plan, chanted times tables, wrote in chalk and discussed the punishments the children of the past would have had to endure if they didn’t do as their teacher told them. Many thanks to our volunteers Mrs Stone and Kalab for showing everyone what would happen if you didn’t get your work right. Mrs Stone was even taken outside for ‘six of the best’.
It really was great fun but we all decided we much prefer the modern day Green Top methods of learning to those in the past!
Logan and Kalab showed today what a difference increased focus and concentration make and produced some amazing writing to win our learning legend postcards. Keep up the good work boys!
What an amazing week filled with smashing swimming awards, fabulous question writing, marvellous maths, and acts of kindness that go above and beyond.

We’ve had a fantastic day celebrating Her Royal Highness’s 70 year reign. We designed crowns, coloured Union Flags and orb and sceptres and completed quizzes.
Apparently the Queen’s main job is ‘laying around’! I suspect their may be a little more to the role than that!

Y6 are looking to raise money to help fund some of our upcoming leavers celebrations such as buying leavers hoodies and autograph books.
We have 2 fantastic Harry Potter hampers to give away to 2 lucky winners!
Your child will bring home a strip of raffle tickets this week which are 50p per ticket. If you would like to buy any, please add in your tickets and the correct amount of money in to a sealed envelope and pass on to your class teacher. If you would like more tickets, please see the school office.

Lots more to celebrate this week in key stage 1! Year 1 had lots of amazing reading certificates given out, year 2 have been getting some awesome shoutouts for their hard work in SATS this week. The children were shining!
Lots of shoutouts for those of use that have been awarded the Be Kind, Get Smart and Work Hard HOWL certificates too. It is so great to see so many young people striving for these awards, although it makes it hard for us to choose sometimes! What a great dilemma to have. What could YOU do to be our winners next week?
A huge well done to both Tallon and Rhys who won our post cards today. Tallon was very good at using his phonics strategies to spell words and Rhys gained a double whammy by producing excellent writing and being a good friend to our new class member Lennie.

Today is National Numeracy day and class 6 joined in with the TT Rockstars on-line event to smash the world record for the most people joining in with a ‘number roll’ – a times table counting activity. As you can see from the photographs they were very excited to be part of the event and to find out they are now world beaters at this! We continued the fun by creating a competition entry to say how they would use numbers in their future jobs and ended the morning by creating their avatars on the TT Rockstars platform and practising their 2 times tables to earn virtual coins.
What an exciting day!
