The Big Climate Fightback!

Crew Knowles have joined in the ‘Big Climate Fightback’ by sending an email to the government to help demand action! We need millions of trees to fight climate change and after learning about deforestation, this is a subject close to our heart!

Why don’t you join the action and add your voice to the campaign too?

Brilliant BODMAS

In maths we have been looking at BODMAS in order to solve calculations. We are really starting to get to grips with remembering and using the order!

Amazon Tribes

As part of our reading lesson last week, we looked at Amazon Tribes. We learned about different tribes and how they are in danger because of deforestation. The reading activity was around the room and we really worked hard to read the text closely in order to retrieve information. Lots of the questions were vocabulary related so we really had to get smart by reading around the key words and trying to figure out the meaning!

Amelia’s Home Learning

Amelia has completed some amazing home learning with her family today and I am super impressed! She created some fantastic information posters about Diwali and deforestation! This links to both our Expedition and our Crew learning! Well done Amelia!

How can we help the world we live in?

As part of the home learning, we have had a little look at propaganda posters ready for when we are back at school! We started to think about how we could create one for deforestation and the children had a go on their own. I think we have some great initial ideas!

Silent Discussion

Last week, Crew Knowles tried out one of our new protocols – Silent Discussion. Our crew completed this protocol at the end of the lesson as a reflection of learning. Each person had to silently answer questions written on paper but they were also able to agree and question other responses that had been put down. I was SUPER impressed with our first attempt at a silent discussion and I was impressed with the reflection of learning that took place. Well done Crew Knowles!

Year 5/6 Family Learning

Complete one of the activities from the document (linked below) as part of our Family Learning! Remember to take lots of photos and email them to us so we can create a video of all of your wonderful learning!

All of the activities link to our Expedition ‘How can we help the world we live in?’

We can’t wait to see what you get up to!

Classifying Animals

Crew Knowles have worked so hard today classifying animals in to different categories! We have looked at the different observable characteristics of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish and birds as well as vertebrates and invertebrates. The reasoning and explanations from the children about how to classify animals blew me away and they all worked so hard to achieve their ME.

Well done Crew Knowles!
