Crew Building Challenge

On Tuesday this week, the children were challenged to create a structure using only marshmallows and toothpicks. They had to work together as a team to build the tallest possible structure. They had to ensure that the structure was light enough that it didn’t collapse under the weight but also sturdy enough to support the weight above it. Some structures remained standing and some of them did eventually collapse but it was really good to see some of the different ideas and teamwork on show.

Computing in Y6

We have been learning new skills in year 6 during our expedition – case study 3 ‘computing’.  We have been coding and debugging – very technical!  It has been great fun grappling with the codes and identifying the bugs within them.  We have learnt how specific and detailed codes need to be when controlling inputs and outputs in order for them to complete actions you require.  The year 6 staff are very impressed with our little computing experts this week!

Cup Stacking Challenge!

In Crew today, the children were working in groups to stack the cups on top of one another. Their challenge was to make sure that they were working as a team in order to carefully lift and place the cups using the string and elastic band. The task required them to have patience and communication to ensure that they weren’t causing the stack to fall. It was fantastic to see how well they worked together as a group.

Crew Building!

This week, the crew were challenged to flip the sheet of tarpaulin without any of them touching the floor. After realising that the challenge was not as easy as first thought, they eventually worked together as a team to discuss different strategies to complete the task. It was really good to hear some of the different reflections and discussions that took place amongst the crew members.

Welcome Back!

Hi Crew Taylor,

This is just a quick update to let you all know how happy we are to welcome you back into school on Monday. It seems like such a long time since a lot of you were last in but hopefully now we can get back to some kind of normality.

I’ve got to say as well how pleased I have been with both those who have been in school throughout this and those that have been accessing their work online on a regular basis. You have really done yourselves proud. Well done!

Hope you all have a great weekend and we will see you all soon!
