Reception are mathematicians!

This week in reception the children have been building the numbers 9 and 10 . We have been thinking about how we can do this in many ways and have been reading, writing and adding smaller numbers together to make 9 and 10! Here are some of our snapshots!

Reminder- EYFS Celebration of Learning

We are excited to invite EYFS parents and carers to our Celebration of Learning from our current expedition ‘Once upon a time’ where the children will share their learning about ‘Who is hiding in the pages of the book?’ This will be on Wednesday 13th March at 1.30pm.

We will be performing songs and rhymes, showcasing beautiful work, sharing our ‘For the love of reading’ boards and presenting each child with their final product. Each child will receive a traditional tale with a QR code of their learning inside. We will be presenting these to other children and special guests from Thorne and Moorends. You will then be invited to take part in some of our learning experiences in the classrooms.

Nursery – Please arrive at the nursery entrance on Ash Tree Road for 1.30 pm.

Reception – Please arrive at the school entrance on Ash Tree Road for 1.30 pm and make your way into the hall.

We hope you can join us

Reception exploring narrative!

This week the children in reception have been retelling and reading the narrative of The Gingerbead Man! The children took part in a gallery walk looking at pictures from the story. The children worked with their partner to recall the events in of the story thinking specifically about what was happening in the picture. The children then were challenged to read the narrative in the speech bubbles and also the red words!

Here is a link to the story and the red words we know so far. I wonder if you can retell the story at home?

Reception hooking into our new text!

Goldilocks and the three bears!

The reception children have begun exploring their question of case study 2. Why does Goldilocks need to say sorry? Here we are exploring the story. Writing ‘ch’ for chair, exploring size and number in the porridge tray and making a setting using materials!

EYFS Sponsored Walk

What a fabulous day we have had! We had our sponsored walk today to raise funds for our Expedition and so that all of our EYFS children can receive a special book at the end of our learning.

The weather was not kind to us 😔 BUT…… When do we ever let the weather get in the way of fabulous learning experiences!
We walked in the hall this morning and this afternoon we managed a few laps around our Reception and Nursery outdoor areas.

We had so much fun! A huge thank you to all the EYFS children for being absolutely amazing and another huge thank you to all of their grown ups for supporting your children and the school with our Expeditions.

You can hand in your sponsor forms with any donations to class teachers.

EYFS Team 😊
