Life Cycle Experts!

Y6 have been comparing the life cycles of different animal groups: amphibians, reptiles, mammals, birds, fish and insects. Each group had to become an expert in their area before moving to other groups to pass on their knowledge. By the end, each group had an anchor chart full of information about each animals group’s life cycle.

Why not recap your learning by watching this video?

Green Top Football

It has been a pleasure to referee some games of football at lunchtimes this week. I have seen lots of enthusiasm from the children to get involved and have seen some great goals scored too. I’m looking forward to see how their skills and teamwork develop as the year goes on.

Coffee Mornings

Good Morning

We are currently working on a schedule for the rest of this term and we will share this with you early next week.  You can also keep up-to-date on our school blog and on the parent calendar located on our website.  Have you subscribed to our website yet?

We look forward to welcoming parents back into the school building for family learning activities, celebrations of learning and student-led conference events – it’s been far too long since these events were taking place!

To get started with welcoming you back, from Monday 28th February, we will be hosting a coffee morning 8:30am – 9:30am every Monday.  Please join us for a coffee and a catch up in the school hall!

We look forward to seeing you at future events.

Thanks

Postcard Winners!

A huge shoutout to our postcard winners so far this week! You have made a great start to the new half term and it’s also lovely to hear other adults saying wonderful things about you all too!! Super proud of you all 💫

Make a stand!

This week in English, we have looked closely at song lyrics and poetry. As a re-hook we used Michael Jackson’s Earth Song and looked at the emotive language used, the rhythm and rhyme and the meaning behind the song. The children linked the song brilliantly to our Expedition and decided to make a stand!
we focussed on all the different factors and the children chose something they wanted to make a stand about to make our world a better place.

We then used the iPads to look closely at the lyrics and the vocabulary used in the song. In groups, the children created a vocabulary wall of all the language that stood out to them.
I can’t wait to see lots of poems using some of these awesome key words!

Outdoor maths

The children really enjoyed using a variety of measuring equipment this afternoon. They were given the challenge of choosing the correct equipment to measure the length of specific areas or equipment in the playground. A great afternoon of mathematical fun! Well done!
